kayak carrier

I have a 10 ft. kayak that I'm wanting to carry on top of my truck cab and topper. Has anyone used the foam blocks and tie downs that are available to do this? If so, what kind of luck have you had and what pointers would you give me?

RE: FunFinder Opinions

I have had a Fun Finder X210 for two years - have almost no problems with it. It weighs around 3600 loaded and pulls very easily behind my 07 Sierra - 5.3 with 3:73 rear end. We have taken it many places that we couldn't have taken our bigger trailer. I do miss the sofa, but only on rainy days - the rest of the time I love the trailer. Cruiser makes FF - different company than the trailers you were asking about. I think you would like the Fun Finder.

RE: small travel trailer

Love my Fun Finder 210 - pulls great and has everything we need. I think you will appreciate not having a large trailer to deal with on an extended trip.

RE: Walking on roof of X-210wbs

Fun Finder 210 - I stand on the ladder and use one of those expandable arms with a sponge like pad on the end - works great and I don't have to get on the roof. It will hold, but I'm just not crazy about putting my weight on the roof.

RE: Fun Finder 139? Any comments on it?

We have the 210 Fun Finder - great little trailer but don't think I'd want anything smaller. It's the two of us plus a Shih Tzu and a Cocker Spaniel - we have lots of fun.

RE: 1st trip west, NE Oh to Sedona Az

We were in Sedona for a week this past June - the road north into and out of town is very tight at the top - switchbacks with signs that say if your rig is over 50' do not drive this route. Come up from the south and you should be alright - off of Interstate 17.

RE: Towing a trailer

At the risk of starting a lot of weight comments - I think you are too close to your tow rating top level. I have the same set up on an 07 GMC pickup and would not want to tow that heavy.

RE: r-pod impressions

We really like our 23 ft. Fun Finder - lite weight and pulls very easy.

RE: Road Bicycles

I have a Giant FCR road bike with flat bars - what a great ride. They are more money than what you are wanting to spend but have cheaper models. I also would stress that you go to a bike shop and have them fit you with what you're wanting. My mountain bike is a Specialized - I've had it over 8 years and haven't had to do much to it except clean it up after a day of heavy trails. Enjoy!

RE: Looking for some great RV Parks in Tucson AZ

Our son lives in Tucson - we stay at Beaudry RV Resort when we visit. We go in the first of June so it's their off season but a really nice clean place to stay.

RE: Anybody go really small?

That's cool looking - I"ve never seen a Little Guy in person but have checked them out online several times. That's an older Vibe before they started putting the bigger engine in them.

RE: Anybody go really small?

whoops - double post, didn't think the first one went through. Sorry - must be time for bed.

RE: Anybody go really small?

I understand about the pup - they look cool set up but I wondered about the work involved. Our Vibe is the 2.4 - had 4 miles on it when I first drove it. I even got to take the plastic off of the seats. Hope you like yours as well - we've really driven it in the past year and it's saved miles on my truck.

RE: Anybody go really small?

Understand about the pup - it's cool, but looks like a lot of work. My Vibe is the 2.4 - what a snappy little engine. It is also what happens when you take your truck in for warranty work and they give you a new Vibe as a loaner - wife liked it but didn't want black so they had just gotten a red one - still had the plastic on the seats and only 4 miles and we still did alright on the price. I've really driven it in the year we've had it. Hope you like yours as much.

RE: Famous (and even Not so Famous) quotes from tv shows

In response to "I thought Turkeys could fly" WKRP is still one of the best shows that was ever on television - along with Andy Griffith of course.

RE: Dalhart vs. Dumas

The private campground in Dalhart is called Corral RV Park - north side of town off of Highway 54. We stayed there one night back in June on the way home from AZ. Very nice and clean - full hookups for $20. Couldn't beat it after driving the interstate all day.

RE: Anybody go really small?

I also have a 2009 Vibe - love the car! We have friends with a motorcycle and trailer camper that unfolds into a big tent room with the bed off the ground - whole thing weighs about 500 lbs. It looks pretty tempting to get something like that to pull with the Vibe. You didn't say which engine you got in your Vibe. I'm also curious about what kind of hitch you're going to get for it as I've looked and haven't decided yet.

RE: Mt. Rushmore question

Once you are in the park you must stay for the day if you want your parking spot for the fireworks. We were there for the 4th last year and saw many leave the park only to have their spot taken the minute they left. If you have the MH as someone said you can park it on the grounds but it is very crowded. We boarded our dogs for this trip for this same reason - camped in Custer and were at the Monument by 8:30 in the morning - saw the faces and messed around in the morning, then just hung out at the truck on the top level of the parking garage in the afternoon - games, visits, naps all while waiting for the show. The fireworks are fantastic and well worth spending the day there but you won't want to leave the park until all is over. Enjoy the 4th at Mt. Rushmore.

RE: cleaning the outside of the trailer

I just finished mine yesterday. Used Simple Green and Zipwax for the roof and sides, then waxed the whole trailer with Mother's Car Wax. Looks like new again.

RE: What not to miss in the Black Hills?

Spent the 4th at Mt. Rushmore last year - display is on the 3rd - go very early and take things to do - We were on top of the garage by 8:30 in the morning and wouldn't have been able to get back in at all if we had left - display is fantastic. Everything else up there is great, but the fireworks are what we went for.
