I've recently had a few financial and other setbacks. None life-threatening, but enough to get me into the dumps. So there I was, feeling sorry for myself & moaning & groaning about my situation (how I won't be able to buy the things I want) when I get a call from a friend's wife. They just found out he has cancer and will not live to see 2011 (may not even get to see another summer). He is the "breadwinner" for his young family.

Of all the ways I could be taught how stupidly I was acting about my own "troubles", this would be just about the last way I would want to go about it.

I hate perspective.

Reminds me of that if we all put the rocks we tote on the same table, most of us would be happy to take our own back.

Sad situation.....

That is a very good analogy. Thanks.

Next Monday we will be laying our 21-year old daughter to rest.
She never walked or spoke and was blind, confined to a bed and had many, many medical issues that finally caused her death last Sunday.

My very worse day was a thousand times better than her best day.
For a girl that was in such a disabled condition, she had little to smile about yet her legacy will be her wonderful smile.
Makes me realize my troubles were nothing.

My perspective is this - if it can be solved with money, don't worry about it - if money cannot solve it - start worrying.

Worry about nothing - pray for everything.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Doug,
very nearly posted something similar the other night.
while I was indulging myself in a bit of self pity over a comparatively moderate financial setback, I logged on and read Steve's (javasuef) post about his beloved Jen passing, and then moments later read mandrake's tribute to his fallen police partner, Chuck. kinda puts one's head right again.

Brother Steve, I’m sitting here trying to end the day with this and that and have tears in my eyes now… Your Jen is beautiful bro… Words are one thing, but pictures bring it out for me. Take care guys and know she is in a beautiful place waiting for you…
