Just checking my tentative route. Going from Deer Creek RV at US27 & I-4 to Signature Resorts in Naples this coming week. Planning to take US 27 south
to Florida 60 West,
to US 17 South
picking up I-75 near Punta Gorda.
Sound good or have any other suggestions? Thanks

I think you're going way out of the way. I'd take I4 to I75. Both are good roads and as long as you avoid rush hour in Tampa, Sarasota and Ft. Meyers, the drive isn't bad.

If you are in no hurry , your way is fine. I'd stay on the interstates. Traffic isn't so bad right now, but after Christmas...Watch out!!!!!
The I-4/I-75 interchange can get bad at rush hours, just plan it after 9:30 AM and before 3:00 pm

When I mapped both routes, it says staying on the interstates (I-4 & I-75) will make it 40 miles further and take an extra 28 minutes - is that not accurate? Deer Creek is my starting point and it is less than 1/2 mile from the junction of US 27 and I-4.

I think you're fine either way, we used to do 27 when we lived in Naples but unless things have changed, its a two lane road that goes through some small towns that sometimes weren't RV friendly. If I were to do it today I would stick to the interstates. We love Naples and still have family there, enjoy your stay.

Our motorhome is in winter storage about 1/2 mile from you. I would take 27 if it were me. 27 is mostly 4 lane the entire length - some stoplights but not a big deal. 4/75 would also work if you prefer the interstate.

Lived in Naples 33 years. I have always liked this route: Take US 27 South to Palmdale FL. (just outside Labelle, Fl.) Turn South on SR 29 into Labelle (15 miles). In Labelle, pick up SR 80 West to Ft. Myers. Then I-75 South to Naples.
These roads (Except SR 29), are all four lane and fairly high speed limits. Enough small towns on US 27 to give you a mental break, without slowing you down too much. Not as busy as I-75, far less accidents to hold you up, and a much more pleasant trip.
Have a good trip and happy camping.

Original Poster here - We ended up taking US 27 to Lake Wales, then FL60 west to Bartow, US 17 south to Arcadia where we made a little jog to pick up FL 31 south to pick up I-75 near Fort Myers.
We returned nearly the same way except we cut over to US 27 a little further south using FL 64.
Both were better than taking I-75 for us. We found US 17 better than US 27 as far as stop lights and delays.
