Thanks for all the info; who do you make reservation through for Watchman? ReserveAmerica?

Also, how far of a drive is Bryce from Zion. We might want to check out Bryce too. TIA

Count on about 100 miles from the Campground at Zion to the gates of Bryce. About a 4000 foot elevation gain also... Ya know, also, there are lots of other places however, close to Zion is an old ghost town called Grafton.. Butch and Sundance was filmed (partially) there.. There is also a big campground at the entrance to Bryce.. The whole southern half of Utah is absolutely stunning.. A hop skip and a jump from there is Lake Powell also... Soooo many places to see...Mother Nature was never able to rest!

I have stayed at a park in Springdale. We thought that it was above average.

Thanks DannyG for the info,
We just made reservations at Watchman (loop A) for May. There were only about 4-6 electric sites left, so it looks like we made them just in time.

We were at Zion this passed Oct. 2009, Watchman was booked out and South campground had no vacancies during the 3 days we had visited Zion. If you want to stay inside Zion, make those reservation, here's a Google LINK to RV parks in the near by towns

West of Rockville there is a BLM area called Mosqutio Cove, this is where we had stayed,it is bare bones and right next to the Virgin River. This puts you about 8 miles from Zion and that's a short drive.

If your going to Zion, stay at Watchman campground if possible! It is way less money than staying outside the park and you will be close to the shuttle. Make sure you go for Watchman, as there are only two campgrounds in the park and it is the only one with any hook up's, water and electricity.

You may want to make reservations. I was there in April and only stayed one night in Watchman because they were booked the rest of the time. I can't even remember the name of the other campground but it is nice as well, and it didn't matter whether I had hookups or not since I had my truck camper. I would recommend the campgrounds in the park but like I said they are popular and you will need to get there early to secure a spot or make reservations.
