I winterized my 5th wheel yesterday. I had purchased 4 gallons of antifreeze based on previous experiences. I only used 2. We have finally got the process down and now I have this antifreeze left over. They are still factory sealed.
My question is will they still be good for next season? I did not see a use by date or anything like that on the bottles.
Thanks!

I used last years left over (2 gallons) this year. I think the stuff lasts forever if never opened.
Reason I bought extra last year was because we were planning on un-winterizing in the middle of the winter and heading South for a week to warmer climate for vacation. Coming back North, I'd need to winterize again before reaching the cold climate. We ended up moving to a new house, and never did take the winter trip. Thus, two extra gallons I used this year!

Hi,
You can keep using it year after year, until it is diluted with water.
If you had used compressed air to remove most of the water from the drinking water lines, then drain the water heater, and then by pass the heater, pump the non-toxic antifreeze into the water lines, then you can pump that fluid carefully back into the bottles in the spring, being careful not to get in any water, and re-use that anti-freeze again. It is easy to capture the used anti-freeze with some compressed air hooked up to the fresh water city inlet.
There is nothing in the solution that will "wear out" - it is a simple mixture of water and other things that do not freeze until they reach -15F, and they will also have a characteristic of not expanding while freezing.
Good Luck,
Fred.

It will outlast you, opened or unopened, unless it is contaminated or diluted with water.

In the spring I collect the antifreeze in last years jug and save it for next year. I only buy new when I don't have enough of the saved to do the lines and traps. Basically I replace what the traps need.

I have kept it several years and then used with no problems.
Better not wear out, bought 6 for about $2 a gallon, and I use two a year.

Glad to hear this I was at our local Lowe's 2 years ago and bought 10 gallons for $.50 (yes that's right 50 cents a gallon). If I keep recycling I won't have to buy any for several years.

Hmmm - interesting idea re: re-using it! I am sure mine gets some water in with it - will the water separate out - or how can one tell if there is water mixed in with it??? I guess I could at least use what I drain out in the spring in the waste tanks... ST

The water does not separate out; regular "pink stuff" antifreeze is already mostly water. The effective ingredient (propylene glycol) is diluted so it's still effective down to -50 degrees F. You can get it more concentrated, for special situations.
IMHO, trying to recycle it is a false economy since you're risking a very expensive repair in order to save $5. In my own RV, I'm not even sure how I'd recover it; when I de-winterize i just fill the freshwater tank and run the faucets, so the old antifreeze just goes into my gray and black tanks.
