OK we found mildew in only one spot of our TT. Looking in Wally World they had stuff called mildew rid or something like that. Will this really work?? In the past we have just spread out tins of kitty litter for excess moisture control. Yes we do leave the top caps cracked for air circulation.

Also is there other products to control mildew?? I know keep things dry to begin with.

Thanks,

Paul B

In Washington State it is very wet from October through April. I put two electric dehumidifiers in the trailer all winter long. One near each end of our 27BH and it has been mildew free.

I just use 2 Dri Z Airs in ours when it's stored. You can get them at Wally World as well.

Take a look at this site:
http://www.care2.com/greenliving/three-ways-to-kill-mold-naturally.html#

Tea tree oil (an essential oil found in most health food stores), grapefruit seed extract and vinegar. A spray of any of the 3 seems better than bleach which is bad on a lot of surfaces.

Clean and dry is the key.

I use a 1-quart spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of vinegar/water....spray roof and awnings, and any other rubber/vinyl trim and caulking....let it sit awhile, and just rinse with water.....let it dry thoroughly. (Hint: mildew starts with spores you can't see. The vinegar---it is naturally acidic---kills the spores before they can grow.)

Leaving an open container of bleach will prevent mildew, however the mildew is a big warning flag that there is too much moisture.

I keep my rig plugged in when it's in storage. I use a Marine style
air dryer plugged in to keep moisture from developing. Use them also for the engine room and cabin on my boat, tool room in the barn, one under the engine of my F550, and one under the BMW. They work, and don't cost any more to run than a light bulb. We live next to the beach, so we get a "lot" of moisture all year long.

If mold or mildew happens to surface somewhere we use an ozone generator to kill the bacteria, associated odors and any other odors from cooking, etc.
