I agree "NO" not anything can be towed with a dolly. But in general, a dolly is the best way of towing "MOST" front wheel drives. Well OK. Maybe I shouldnt say BEST way. I suppose a very light weight yet durable trailer is the best way to tow any vehicle. But a dolly is a very good way to tow a front drive

No, you can not use a tow dolly for any kind of vehicle that can't be towed 4 down.
Check the Remco Towing Application chart here.

Not QUITE true! There are MANY front drive vehicles that can NOT be towed four down, but CAN be towed on a dolly.

I think you misread what I said. I am saying that you can't use a dolly to tow some vehicles that have a driveshaft going to a rear end, and certain vehicles that are AWD.

One other problem you may run into is alot of imports are built low to the ground and will hit starting up the ramps and once on the ramps will be very close to the body. My Civic was like this so I went out and bought a 6 ft 2X12 and cut pieces big enuf to fit in the wheel trays and the left over cut into 2 pieces to place under the front of the ramps to start up on first. Did the trick but be careful that the wheel tie down buckles are in past the edge of the fender. Nice thing Honda built their cars to just pop back together.

OK, I can agree with THAT, but that is NOT what you said! Unless given reason to think otherwise, I usually assume that people say what they mean, and mean what they say. There is no comparison between your two statements! IMO, they are entirely different in meaning, when taken literally.

mowermech, is splitting hairs over semantics at all relevant to the conversation at hand? After reading the previous posts I (and, my assumption is, many others) understood randco's post just fine.

We tow a 06 TDI Jetta on a tow dolly and I had to cut some 2x8's to fit the ramps so that the lower air dam would clear until the wheel reaches the tire well. No problem just alittle added time to place and remove the wood.
Good luck
