I just finished my fridge baffle mod. I'm looking for my next project but creativity is not my strong suit. Is there any mod out there that I can't live without? Any new piece of gear that I just have to have? I've been looking for my next project in the old posts and haven't come up any ideas yet. Links to modifications pictures are great too.

Thanks!

How are you set-up regarding waste water? Got an easy to setup and use configuration for grey and/or black water?

One place for inspiration on mods is at He_Ruide's mod site.

He has some of the best step-by-step shots of installing and using different mods.

You can also always add A/V equipment, such as a car stereo that has MP3 support as well as iPod/music player inputs. They also have in-dash DVD players, but that would be unusable in most permanent cabinets in PUPs.

How about adding a second electrical line, either as a stand-alone extension from the campground's power post, or as a new circuit off the power converter (which is the route I went). Cold weather camping, a ceramic heater, and any other 120 volt appliance always tripped the one 120v circuit for all outlets, save the A/C.

I also bit the bullet and put Eternabond on my roof seams BEFORE they started leaking. No worries now - but I still do inspect annually anyway.

I did a Google search on "pop-up mods" and found pages of photographed inspiration.

Yum...nature is tasty.

Could you use another shoe rack; perhaps by the door.

Here is a link to a whole bunch of mods that Campingfools did to his '07 Niagara.

Another person who has done a lot of mods is ngatel. Check out all of the pictures to get an idea of the possibilities. And if you've followed this forum for a while, you know that Niagara's are notorious for bent axles (the trailers are very easy to overload). So go all out and put a 5200# axle under your unit. He upgraded his axle from a 3500# unit to a 5200# unit with info here and pictures here.

Yes, I have these sites bookmarked and haven't moved one more inch toward starting any of these mods. Of course the "honey-do" list for our house will keep me busy for years anyway!

Bondebond and KCC, Thanks for the compliments the mods on my web site... I do approcoate that.

KCC, The good news is there are several more mods you should or can do on the fridge. I've made most and I apologize for not posting the pictures but I've been having some health problems.

These are:

  1. Because you live in Florida, I would highly recommend that you add one or two PC fans to the outside top compartment. The baffle will ensure that air moves across the cooling fins but the fan will force a lot more air across them.
  2. Purchase a weather station with two remote thermometers. Place one in the upper outside compartment and the other in the fridge itself. That way you can determine if the baffle alone is enough or if you need to turn on the fans. The inside thermometer will prevent you from turning the fridge into a freezer (which I've done). Also if you are using propane while towing, the monitors will keep you informed as to whether the flame blew out etc. As I have done... all you need to do is loose a fridge full of food to pay for the monitors.
  3. Camping world and others have a small cube fan that you install inside the fridge to more the air around. I've installed one but I don't have any data to say if it makes the fridge more effective.
  4. Lastly, some folks have bent part of the bottom wire shelf (from the horizontal to vertical position) so they can store 2 liter bottles of soda. I have not done this mode but it some find it very useful.

Hope this helps and I promise to post pictures of my recent mods on my Smugmug page soon.

He Ruide great site and cool mods. enjoyed looking at your photos and mods.

i used 2 120mm computer fans and a switch so i can control it from the outside of the camper.

i placed a wired thermometer in the fridge to monitor the temp. but i like your idea better. i don't use propane on the road. i use 12v (don't know if that's good, bad, right or wrong) just to maintain the temp since no one is going in there.

where can i get a cube fan? i don't know if i even have room for it. we eat pretty good when we camp and the fridge is full usually.

we do cans for soda and keep them outside in a cooler. i've seen that mod before but i'd like to keep the fridge the way that it is.

my next projects are going to be insulation projects. reflectix inserts in the bunk end windows (already bought the reflectix). pop up gizmos for christmas (if santa will bring them) and considering putting 1/2 inch foam board under the bunk mattresses (that a good idea?).

i've got some picture on webshots. thanks for all the input!!!

I really like the central vac MOD. Where did you get the parts? How difficult was it to install?
