I've been looking at the Seneca's for a couple years (more seriously recently) and think I might finally have found a 36MS for a price I can afford.
The unit in question is a 2008 model that has never been titled. The dealer tells me they just had too many in stock. Since the dealer is abour 4 hours away from me, I haven't been there yet to take a look personally - I will this weekend.
The one issue (apart from the strange story above) is that it has the full entertainment center instead of the larger overhead bunk (we prefer the latter). Does anyone have any experience in removing the entertainment center? I'm wondering how difficult it might be. I consider myself reasonably handy, but not certain how difficult the interior finish & colours might be to match.
Thanks,
Tom

You will have one big hole in the ceiling area where the wiring comes down. That might the biggest issue to fix since the ceiling is covered in vinyl.

2008 Jayco Seneca 36MS Floorplan You'll note that the model you chose still has a bunk sized bed instead of the queen size bed, better than nothing! And you still have the double size sofa bed and dinette bed. The cabover entertainment system has a lot of needed storage cabinets, and is well integrated, it would be a shame to tear it out and try to match Jayco's gorgeous cabinets! And the big LCD TV that is installed inside of it...where are you going to mount it?
As far as being almost 2 years old, no real problem there! Check the roof for dried sealant or leaks, check the fresh water system in case it was not winterized and has damaged pipes or tanks, check the dates on the tires also. Plug it in and turn on the propane, make sure EVERYTHING works, including the genny and furnace, A/C, appliances, etc. And check to see if any rodents may have got in and nested! Go fer it! Nice rig with 2 baths! Congratulations!
This is our 7th new Jayco in 30 years! Loved 'em all!

It just seems a shame to tear apart all that beautiful woodwork in the entertainment area, even if it did work to do it.
I truly believe that you will be better off waiting till you find the unit that fits all your needs. The RV market is wide open for finding units right now. I don't think that situation is likely to change anytime soon.
My advice is find a unit that is closer to what you really want, without the major construction, and questionable results.
Good luck with whichever avenue you choose. The Seneca is a wonderful unit. I love the 36MS!!

If you dont really need that overhead bunk why get rid of it? we looked long and hard to find one with the entertainment center, and are really glad that we waited till one turned up. Its a nice feature and gives us a lot of storage, plus looks great...........

I bought my Bigfoot used at a dealer and negotiated a remodel of the entertainment center as part of the deal. The cabinets and TV up there were nice, but we needed the sleeping space.

I did it with mine--1992; Travel Craft. I would say it was easy. There are two panels that extend from the walls on mine, about 18 inches. I left those in place. Then there was only cabinet faces/doors/TV to remove from the center section. The panels that remain hide the roof hole and electrical junction box and some wires. I added plywood painted white to lie over the bed's opening that exposes the driving area. I used two separate pieces so that one can be removed to allow the driver to go in and out. I kept the cabinets in case I ever want to rebuild it again. I patched up the roof from the nails and screw holes with silicon. My upper windows are heavily tinted so they don't need curtains.
I got a "memory foam" mattress, full size--4 inch thick from the Internet. Very comfortable and now its the best bed in the house ! I put on a really nice fitted sheet to make it look nice. The mattress can be rolled up or folded up when space it needed.
We prefer our 13 inch mobile TV that I store in the shower. This way we move the TV to different locations of the RV (30') depending up who is sitting where. ie, if you want to watch on the back bed, or the sofa or the dinette.
Good luck,
EDWARD

Oh! It just dawned on me. There should be a pull out single bed built into the entertainment center. On mine ('06 35GS) under the TV, it looks like there is a pull out drawer that is really a bed.
It's that way on mine anyway.

Thank you all for your responses; I appreciate your insights. We have decided that we are going to keep looking for the unit that suits us best, rather than buy something this expensive and want to alter it immediately. I was just excited that for once a Canadian dealer wasn't holding out for full MSRP on one of these. Good deals seem much more plentiful in the US than here in Canada - I may need to import one yet.
