Has anyone had any issues with small tears in the fabric of the mattress covers on folding mattresses? DW just spent a couple of hours stitching up some threads on both mattresses. Seems to be some stress points from the innersprings as well. She thinks I'm folding the ends up wrong but I'm doing it as the dealer showed when we purchased it new. I know the older models had a slightly different mattress and cover (ours is like a velour fleecey on one side) and maybe thicker, unsure.
How do those of you with newer (we're a 2009) foldable mattress do it? does the bunkend curved bar (the attached to frame one) go in between the folds of mattress or not?
Appreciate tips and thoughts and input if anyone else is having early use (one year) tears or stress rips.
Thanks.

We been doing it wrong for 2 seasons. Just learned a couple of trips ago a better way. We just use the front bunk (don't know if this will work on back). We have 3" memory foam on matress. We leave memory foam on and fold the matress. Strap it with tie down straps so it don't come unfolded. Stand it up slide it street side so wall holds it up. Lay curved bar flat on the door. tuck in canves about 1 foot on sides just under cables. When we close the door might have to tuck in a little. We don't have have to force it closed and tuck for 15 minutes like we used to.

i, first, went against Chuck's suggestion and put the "hoop" inbetween the folded mattress.
we've found that the stitching has been loosened by the hoop.
so, were putting it on top of or under the mattress now.

The end bow should look like this when the bed is folded up. If you put it between the mattress folds the fitting for the ridge (shepard's) pole will rub a hole in the fabric.
