We're headed to Florida this Feb & may tow our boat instead of our van. A boat costs $300-350 per day to rent but a minivan can be rented for $400 for a week !!! And the boat is only 2500lbs instead of 4000lbs so that makes the trip easier too.
We're visiting friends/family in Englewood so somewhere within about a hour would be good. Englewood is on the southwest coast, below Tampa & Venice.
I have been looking for a CG up & down the coast but haven't found anything with a place to dock our boat. A couple are inland but seem to only allow canoes. Riverside Resort looks like my best option & I found a couple topics here that rate them pretty well. It's a ways up the Peace River though; can a 20' jetboat navigate that far up?
Thanks for any info!

Any given day, I'm Boating, shoveling or RV'ing south! or biking, 4wheeling, GP'ing

I have never been down that far with my jet boat.Plus I won't use it in salt water anyhow.I do know if you use it in salt water, make sure you get it rinsed out of the motor real good. They is probable a marina nearby the campground.Have your friends go drive around and look for you.
What kind of jet boat you got?

Check water level there. Parts of Peace River can be really low and require canoes to drag or be carried at certtain times of year.A call to Riverside Resort may answer your question. Because of canoeing they may not permit motorized units.

There is the Encore RV resort (I think that they just changed the name) on 775 in Port Charlotte FL. It is about a 1/2 mile from the Myakka River which feeds into the Peace River (Charlotte Harbor) and then to the Gulf. There is a boat ramp across the road from the park.

You, would only be 15 minutes from Englewood.

It's a Sea-Doo 205 Utopia. 20'-er with a Merc 210 V-6, seats 8, 45MPH. Tows easier than the 30' SunDancer.
It has the engine-flush & actually has the bottom painted since it used to be in the brackish part of the Hudson; not totally 'salt' but not really freshwater either.

Calling is a great idea; I'll do that on Monday when I should get the best answers, I would imagine.

This is a good choice. Its on 776 and you will not have a problem with the boat. There is a public ramp next to the marina.

Thanks. I did look at a couple Encore's but their rates (website) just seem to be by the month, not by the day or week. We're there for about a week & a half.
They'll accept folks that are still in their 40's won't thay? :-)

Check out WP Franklin and Ortona South COE parks. Not far from where you want , reasonably priced and have river access and ramps

Drove by Encore on our way to Englewood. The name on the sign is Harbor Lakes RV Resort. I think that it would be the closest to Englewood.

E.G. Simmons ruskin fl about 50 miles from Englewood. It is right on Tampa Bay and you can pull your boat up to your site. 18.00 a day' If this is too far run an ad on craigslist or ask you friends to find a dock close by.
