Again, may buy a 2001 Jamboree 26f this weekend, as an "upgrade" to my current truck camper.
I was wondering about towing with this unit. Would it be practical to stick an old Hyundai Accent (curb weight 2200 lbs) on the back of this 26ft. class C? I understand the hitch is rated for 3500 lbs, but, towing is a pain ... at least it is a pain when I tow my 18' boat ...
The whole idea is:
(1) a 26' Class C is small enough to get into ** most ** park campsites
(2) the towed vehicle lets me scoot around once I get there without having to drive the RV around.
I mostly like to travel a lot, fit into more rural and natural settings, etc. etc. as I drift into retirement.
Does this approach make any sense. Should I get a bigger (28') unit if I am going to tow anyways.
HELP!!
Rick.

Nothing wrong with the APPROACH but the practicality would depend on the details about the motor home. If it has the power to handle that toad and if the hitch is strong enough to handle the load (sounds like it'll be close). As for fitting into "most parks" I don't think there are any statistics about what defines "most parks". they're all different but a 26 foot long motor home is certainly on the small side compared to many you'll find on the road. My own combination is 58 feet long and I rarely have problems finding a place to camp. So far I've been somewhere every night

Check your Accent's manual to be sure you can be towed 4 down.

How is that trade an "upgrade". Sounds like just a different choice to me. Lot's of folk would consider it a "downgrade" choice. Just a thought.

"Upgrade" in terms of available floorspace. I have had some great times in my truck camper, but, it can get tight on a rainy day.
Accent is 4-speed manual, FWD. So, I assume that leaving it in neutral and towing it will not be a problem?

Assume nothing, check owner's manual to be sure.
