I have been wanting to make a saddle to put on my bottle jacks to sit the axle of the 5er on when lifting the axle to change a tire and our son made this one for me. Saddle for Bottle Jack He made 2 of them for me.

Have him patent it, do an info commercial and in 5 years he can retire a multi-millionaire.

I made one this summer only used a piece of channel just long enough to span both U-bolts and welded a tube to it that just fits the ram on my bottle jack fiqure if I run one wheel up on a board the jack would not be lifting enough weight to cause any damage to the axle if I needed to change a tire as the only contact is the two U-bolts.

I think the OP's thing would go right next to the spring/axle support and lifting at that point would be fine whereas jacking on the axle much away from the spring/axle supports more that 5 or maybe inches is a big No No.

I should have mentioned that the piece of half pipe just fits between the 2 shackles and should give plenty of support to the axle tube. At lest in my mind. The axles are under the springs.

Looks just like what I made except the welding is neater and mine isn't painted yet. Putting a flat jack aganist a round axle didn't look safe to me.
Spell check is broken again.
