We have plans to be in Cedar City, Utah for 4 days and I'm looking at alternatives to staying at the KOA in town.
I noticed there are a few state parks south of there.
1) Can anyone tell me how far of a drive it is from Sand Hollow State Park to Cedar City?
2) How about from Quail Creek SP to Cedar City? Is it a lot shorter?
3) also, which is better between the two, Quail Creek or Sand Hollow? Are they both full hook-ups? thanks

Should've mentioned in my reply to your PM that there are also two nice little RV parks in Leeds, maybe 15 minutes closer to CC, right off I-15. This is one, the other is next door. May not be able to get a spot, tho. Lots of snowbirds grab these up. Again, convenient to your needs and generally warmer than CC.

About 45 miles.

About 37 miles.

I like Sand Hollow better for the red-rock surroundings. It is the more scenic of the two in my opinion. It does have full hook-up sites, Quail Creek does not.

Here's some info for you:
Sand Hollow Info
Quail Creek Info
Both are nice spots. As others have noted there are some FHUs at Sand Hollow. Quail doesn't offer hookups but all sites have a nice lake view and sometimes it is a bit less windy and dusty; Sand Hollow is quite exposed. They're very close to each other so pluses or minuses on that count. From both it's just a quick hop up Route 9 to I-15 North and Cedar City.
There is a nice commercial park in Hurricane called Willowinds.
Willow Wind
The Leeds RV Park is very homey and down to earth. It's just north of Quail Lake.

Thanks for the info everyone. The wife has informed me that hook ups are a must, so that drops Quail Creek.
Thanks for the links Aloha Utah. The two private RV sites look better in their photos than either the KOA or Country Aire up in Cedar City.
I guess the big factor will be the weather. I imagine I can wing-it and go up without reservations. Bound to be something open that time of year.
