Thank you ALL so very much for your kind help and suggestions. Using information you have provided we've been able to put together a plan and have made some progress. Good Sam will cover our tow bill from Villas Onac into Mazatlan Ford, 130 kms away.
Mazatlan Ford is working on getting the parts they think we will need based on what we think is the problem which is failure of the EGR cooler and oil cooler. This diagnosis by someone (DH) who knows nothing about mechanics but is absolutely certain ALL the symptoms are exactly the same as April 2008 when that is what happened. Maz Ford still has not confirmed an appointment for us but fortunately no panic as we planned on staying here at Villas Onac through the end of November anyway.
We especially want to thank both Chris (qtla9111) who was very helpful and also Mazatlan Lee for your extremely generous offer. This Forum is a godsend for travellers in this wonderful land. Should we need any of the services you all have offered we will be in touch but hoping at this point that we have it under control. It's just going to take some patience while we deal with the "manana, manana" way of getting things done. Time to climb in my hammock and chill out.

Pilot, just to increase your comfort level somewhat, Mazatlan Ford worked on the motor home next to us (A V10 gas engine) in Villas Onac 2 years ago. The problem was a sensor as the engine was putting out lots of black soot.
The mechanics came to the park with an analyzer, went back and ordered a sensor from the US, then came back and installed. It turned out to be another sensor, they repeated the process and got it running properly. The main delay was due to having to get the parts from the US, from memory about 2 weeks.
Since the folks were there for a part of the season, the delay wasn't a problem.
Based on what I saw, they should do a good job for you.

Pilot, it's good that you've gotten some response from the Ford dealership. I've debated for several minutes now, and feel it's only fair to give you a head's up. I have not been able to find one good comment the dealership's service dept. I just talked to a man who's family I've known well for ten years. He takes his newer model (I think it's a 2007) Ford Diesel truck to:

If you want a second estimate, Antonio recommends talking to Miguel Lizarraga. Sanchez Celis is a colonia (neighborhood) about 8 or 10 blocks behind the Ford Dealership, towards the ocean.

ps: Thanks, folks, it's nice to get a compliment, but I'm not usually considered very gentlemanly. My kids used to call me General Lee, and they thought I didn't know. Depends if it is 800, 866, 877, etc. That's why I posted the Telmex conversion chart. The charge is international calling rates, it is announced at the time you make the call.
Yes, I am well aware of the different numbers needed to dial 866, 877, etc. I was just responding to the poster saying you could not dial a 800 number in Mexico. Maybe I should have typed to dial a 800 number. Also, I didn't see your previos reply before I posted.

Hopefully this will open some doors and minds about service that is available in Mexico. I'm sorry their truck broke down but if the dealer can fix it, or Lee's suggested repair facility than we can start a list of places (maybe someday a "sticky") of diesel and motorhome repair facilities in Mexioo.
RV parts can be had or easily obtained in Monterrey and I am sure that there are others, we just don't know.

Lee, sounds like they have a handle on their problem. Best I remember about the shop was that it wasn't too far north of Del Conchi maybe one km, east of Entronque Carretera Internacional probably about 2-3 km on the north side of the street. The main road east turned into a dirt road, but sure it would be paved by now. Think they had about five stalls. What impressed me most was that they had blue painted outlines on the shop walls where the tools were supposed to be---didn't see any of the tools, of course

Dodge is the only one of the former Big 3 that will honour warranty work in Mexico. GM does it on a case by case basis. I have had coverage twice in the last 10 years but had to pay upfront and apply for reimbursement. I am sure Ford is the same. In orer to get a reimbursement the work will have to be done at a Ford dealer. Both Dodge and Ford are selling Diesel PU's in Mexico now so there has to be some trained mechanics. AS for Good Sam ( or Coach Net): They do not offer a dispatched towing service in Mexico. However both will reimburse you for up to $1000 for a tow bill. I have that in writing. There is no place on the West Coast with any real RV parts other than the few you find in some CG's. Especialy furnaces, converters,RV inverters lighting and Propane fridges. Some Marinas do have a few parts that are also common to boats. Sewer hoses, and plumbing parts that are RV only are also impossible to find. Even toilet chemical is scarce. A few of the 30 or 50 amp electrical components are available. The good thing is that Mexicans are ingenius ( spelling?) and can often get you going without the correct parts.
