I'm currently on Pravastatin and have tried ALL the others.

Ditto. Wife and I are on Pravastatin. $10.00 for 90 tablets from Wal-Mart. Refillable at any Wal-Mart throughout the U.S. I also must use Medco for prescriptions beyond 3 30 day refills. I get most of my medications from Wal-Mart. Pravastatin is 1/2 the cost thru WM vs. Medco.

Again, if you have had any military service (I think that's correct), it will be free from the VA and for active/retired military through their on post pharmacy or $3 for a 90 day prescription through either Express Scripts or their local pharmacy. I'm not positive about the part if you've ever served in the military you can get VA assistance so you may want to check that first.

If... the veteran has a "Service Related" disability... *** see Note***

the cost of medicines to treat that specific disability are Free...

But if the medicines are not specifically for a "Service Related" disability, the cost will be $8 per prescription for a month's supply.

example:... blood pressure medicine is not prescribed to treat a service related disability and will cost the veteran $8..

All veterans with a "Service Related Disability" who served at least 181 days of un-interrupted active duty and received an "Honorable" discharge are eligible for some if not all medical coverage..

including but not limited to... all Medicines, Doctors and Treatments.. and things like eyeglasses, hearing aids, Shoe insoles, Canes, Walkers, Wheel Chairs, etc...
(usually they can get everything except dental care)

HOWEVER.... if a veteran does not have a "Service Related Disability" and is not already enrolled in the VA Health Care System.... the chances are slim that he/she will be able to be enrolled... at this time..

And... some veterans with non-servive related disabilities, even though they are enrolled in the VA system may have to pay a Co-Pay for "NON-medicine" things like doctor visits and other treatments and appliances..

Each case is evaluated independently and is based on several things like your income ... etc.. only the VA system can evaluate you..

*** NOTE *** ... the service related disability DOES NOT have to be a result of combat...

ANY permanent debilitating injury received while on active duty is considered "Service Related"..

TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

Thanks for the replies. This community is the best! It is the generic of zocor I have been on, which is why it is so affordable. I have not tried one of these mentioned above; only been on lipitor (which I can't tolerate) and the simivastin (which I can tolerate). Guess he is suggesting Crestor as I keep discussing the calf pain I get. He doesn't seem to have an answer for that. I am not eligible for any VA benefits; everything would be a cash price. Has anyone used a Canadian mail-order pharmacy to reduce the price of expensive drugs? Thanks again for the info, KRJ

If your doctor doesn't realize that leg pains (cramps) are caused by your use of whatever statin you have been using, fire him and get another fast. That is one of the primary negative side effects of statins

Crestor didn't work for me. The 10mg dosage caused too much pain. i got off of it and went back to lipator and life is alot better.
I'm in the process of giving the remainder of my perscription to someone who having some financial problems and uses to same dosage.
Some of you may not agree with this, but I just can't see dumping the tablets when they are perfectly good!!

I think most of the issues with giving away Rx drugs is when Aunt Millie thinks she has the same problems medically as you and starts taking something on her own, rather than giving somebody drugs that you can no longer use and that they have been prescribed for that person. I certainly have done it myself.
