Would the calipers on the WH 24 chasis work on the WH22 chasis? If so how much could they cost? Here it is the end of the year and still no idea of when this will be ressolved.

From what I have heard around the IRV2 forum they are totally different. I also read there is an aftermarket supplier of brake calipers and pistons, that are not the phenolic piston, made by someone near Cleveland, OH. If my memory is right they were around $250. each. I cancelled the ins. on my MH today and it is in storage for the season. When I get the call that parts are available I will get it in for the repair and then take off.

Is everyone aware that WH recomends white grease in the bell crank? It will not bind the bell crank in cold weather.

Workhorse Brake Failure Update 3

Today, Friday, Nov 6 the service department at Cummins Cal Pacific called me. He said he had spoken with Workhorse and they told him to check the bell crank to see if that was causing the brake pedal to hang up in the applied position. Workhorse rep also told him that IF the bell crank was not the problem, which it was not, then it must be the customer "riding the brakes." The service writer at Cummins Cal Pacific knows that is B/S, the Workhorse rep knows that's B/S and I know it's B/S. I told Cummins Cal Pacific that the coach will stay there until I come to some conclusion on this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated at this point.

Kind of gives you a 'warm and fuzzy' feeling about Workhorse.

Cummins Cal Pacific may end up charging you storage if you don't pick it up. They are only the middle man on this and are probably as upset as you. In addition I am BS. in Michigan.

I read somewhere that the criteria for putting the "riding the brake" code in the memory of the computer was that you had to have your foot on the brake for --- TWO MINUTES...Think about that ...Just take some time and time that out and see if you would remember it happening. If that is correct and the code is there I believe you would remember when it happened....two minutes is a VERY long time to hold your foot on the brake. I can't believe it would happen without some odd reason. There may be a glitch in their software logging the codes or the brakes are hanging for some reason.

Maybe if your stopped at a red light for 2 minutes with your foot on the brake pedal the computer will send the error code!!!

Why would you leave the coach there? Why not take it somewhere else and get a second opinion? If the second opinion is different, then at least you have some kind of documentation instead of just your word against the computer readout. Seems to me that letting it sit there will accomplish nothing. Find a competent mechanic that is used to working on medium duty trucks brakes and try to get an unbiased report. Naturally the only way to get a non-biased report is to just take it to a mechanic and NOT to prejudice his report by telling him what Cummins Cal had determined.

I have a suspicion that the OFFICIAL Brake Recall will never happen, and that Workhorse will be bankrupt soon....just have that feeling.

These chassis aren't exactly flying off the shelves right now with all the brake failure reports and Workhorse denying fault for 7 years.
