Does anyone use a Sway Control device when towing a 16' Tandem Axle Enclosed Cargo Trailer such as Wells Cargo or Haulmark?
I use a Hensley on my 24' Toy Hauler. Thanks for any/all comments.
Tow with a 2500HD Duramax.

Most people will tow without sway control when the TV is a 3/4 ton truck. I would try without. You can always add sway control if you feel uncomfy.

Built my TH from a FR 18' Continetal Cargo (14' box)....3,100# for everyday ready-to-camp, 4,500# with two bikes onboard....have NEVER felt the need for WD/Sway....towing with 5.7L 5-speed 1500HD....T axles are further to the rear and my balance is right on....load it right and you shouldn't need anything either...

At the risk of getting beat up for using vague generalizations:

1. Enclosed cargo trailers usually have the axles closer to the rear.
2. Enclosed cargo trailers usually have more flexibility to be loaded properly.
3. Enclosed cargo trailers usually have lower profiles and lower centers of gravity.

By design they are more stable than travel trailers.

I am personally towing a 14' converted to a basic TH with a 1/2 ton, small V8, and 3.42 axle ratio... No sway control, no WD hitch. My tongue weight was getting out of hand, though, so I moved the battery bank to the rear of the trailer. What a difference! Until I did that it felt like I was towing a mountain.

Milo,
He is talking about a 16' Tandem Axle Enclosed Cargo Trailer, not a full sized travel trailer! Why try to get something started?

Thanks for the comments. I'm going to try it without sway control, and add it if I have problems. Had a sway problem several years ago, and The fact that I was towing with a Dodge 3/4 T pickup didn't matter, the trailer was the BOSS - Not a good situation. Guess sway control is actually cheap insurance.

IMO, no sway control, other than proper balanced loading needed. Use trailer brakes.
