Let's see...I do all the maintenance, trip planning, food purchase and loading, all other packing, driving, setup inside and out, all the cooking and cleanup, all the packup and clean out when we get home. DW does...hmmmmmmm...occasionally she asks where I am going and if it fits her plans and sounds interesting she will go along. Most times not. Works for us!!

We go everywhere together, and often with the kids and dogs. On occasion I've mentioned taking a trip, or going to a regional astronomy event, when she can't go due to her work schedule. She gives me her blessing, but I've never done it to date.

I do most everything getting ready for a trip except that the DW and I USUALLY do the grocery shopping for together. There have been times when I've done it all by myself. When we arrive home from shopping, we both put the bags of groceries in the motorhome but I unload the bags and stow everything in the appropriate place. If we are traveling to an event with our astronomy club, we touch bases with the other members, couples, or families as we prepare "themed potlucks" for dinners and also have at least one community breakfast per trip.

We also often host other club members and put them up in our motorhome for multiple night events...especially in inclement weather. Our most frequent guest is a member who is totally deaf and has cerebral palsy. We've made several changes to our RV to help accommodate him.

The motorhome is my baby and I do all the maintenance on both the coach and chassis. I have an extensive check list that I use for the "pre-flight" before a trip and to ensure that I have packed any maintenance and repair items that might be needed.

I also have several other checklists that are specialized for the purpose of the trip, the destination, and the type of of facility in which we will be staying (i.e. established campground or boondocking and the level of hookups..if any.)

The checklist for trips with the astronomy club includes all of the observing equipment and power packs to operate it. As we will be up all night, and often at higher elevations, this list also includes a greater supply of warm clothes (up to and including snowmobile suits). Checklists for the coast include fishing and beach supplies. With the exception of everyone's clothes and personal care items, I load and stow everything.

When camping, at almost any location and for any reason, I do all of the setup and take down as I am most familiar with the RV systems and the locations and order in which things must be unloaded and loaded. Once I get started, everyone knows to just stay out of my way and that I won't take a break, or stop and relax, till it is all done.

I do 90% of the cooking. This is for several reasons. My wife works very hard, often with long hours and on-call, and I see any trip in the RV as a way to pamper her and give her a bit of a vacation. I've also been RV'ing and camping all my life and am much more familiar with preparing meals in the tight confines of the RV and/or with camping utensils. I always do all of the dishes, for the reasons noted above, and because my wife has not mastered how to do it efficiently while conserving water and gray water tank capacity. Sometimes she gets started, and as I observe what I consider to be excessive use of water, I will just step in and say, "Here, let me do that honey." She appreciates it....no matter what my motivation.

Once at home after a trip, we all unload...but I have learned not to take anyone's word that "all the groceries are out", lest I find another moldy loaf of bread a few weeks after a trip. Yechhh!

We also share all jobs except the driving DH is in charge there as I'm not as good a driver. He likes to cook outside I do the inside cooking.

I do it all. My wife rarely travels with me so I have the routine down. When she does travel with me she cleans the bathroom - says I'm too messy.

Hey people, thanks for all the responces.. Enjoyed the read.. BTW I forgot to add when the trip is over (I hate that). We both share the unloading.. The wife is pretty particular to make sure it all gets put away in its rightful place.. So I'm mostly the grunt...!

lol, Im a bit of a control freak about things and unloading is definately the pink job in our house. Although that usually only means dirty laundry. With 4 plus hungry kids,.. we rarely have food left. lol

DH and I plan the menu and whoever has time before we leave does the shopping. We both cook, so that is a shared experience. We also share the job of loading the trailer. He brings me the stuff and I put it away.

DH hooks up and drives. I am the navigator and the official nap taker. I keep telling him I want to learn to tow the FW, but I still am nervous about it. Corkie the WonderBeagle makes sure we get to our destination safely.

When we get to our site, DH unhooks and levels the FW. I will hook up to the electric, water and cable while DH hooks up the sewer. I prepare the adult beverages and snacks while setting up the inside. He sets up the outside living area. This way we stay out of each other's space. And...when we are done we both sit and enjoy our drinks. LOL

When people say inside and outside set-up jobs. What exactly are the 'inside' jobs?

I ask because off hand I can't think of anything inside that needs 'set-up' except for maybe opening the center vent and turning on the fantastic fan.

My second reply. I got up and took the dog out, turned the heater on, made the coffee on and signed onto the forum ready to relax with my coffee.

She got up, said she wanted to vacuum the carpet AND THEN ASKED IN HER BEST GUILT INSPIRING WAY: "What are working on?"

Well, I'm still typing and drinking my coffee

I am sure this depends on your rig and amount of people camping. We have a family of four and a 21' TT. When traveling, the inside of the TT is crammed with stuff... grill, tables, chairs, outside rug, dinette table is down for long trips, cookware is packed with towels to prevent movement / breakage, bathtub has broom and basketballs etc. in it, and so on. Also when "unpacking" is done, we quickly sweep out the camper to start out the weekend with it clean... doesn't last long, though!
