For those who like to go to the Oregon Coast or want to know when the best time to go, the time is not now. High winds and lots and lots of rain. unless you like storm watching on the coast, now is not the time to drive a RV on the 101 hwy.

We were in Newport a couple weeks ago and got a pretty good storm. We like the Oregon coast no matter what the weather is.

The weather may not be good news for RVers, but the Southern Oregon Coast is very much in need of the moisture. If there is too much, send the rain toward Nevada. We are also very, very dry.

Oregon coast has rapid weather changes because of the Pacific Ocean and Coast Mountains. The problem with going to our coast at anytime of the year is weather changes. Therefore, first and foremost be prepared no matter what season, but know this, as fast as the weather can change to bad it can also change to beautiful. Some of the best times we have had at the Oregon coast have been after big storms in February.
Lesson, you cannot predict the Oregon Coast weather by a date as each and every year has some surprises which by the way we think makes our coast a memorable and beautiful place to visit.

I guess that Saturday is s'posed to be THE day for the BIG storm waves.Up here on the Washington they're forecasting 25-30' waves every 25-30 seconds and are kinda suggesting that people exercise a little caution when on the beach.. I can just imagine the sound of those things when they break and the feel of it when all that water hits the beach..I wanna go,wanna go...
Oh well, heading for Portland next tuesday with the dawg, the DW is going to Kauai for a couple of weeks, to rescue my 88 y/o aunt from Terwilliger Plaza and head somewheres for a few days.Knowing her, we'll probably be hitting a few wineries, brewpubs and eating a lot and then in our spare time, she'll have me out on a trail somewheres..

Went and did the Oregon Coast going from Lincoln City all the way to Crescent City, CA this past December, right over the New Years holiday.
It was actually a rather good trip, other than a number of places either closing early, or being closed for the season. The Big garden down south was worth the visit, especially with all the Christmas lights.
