I terminated a good amount of chipmunks this past spring with a Have A Hart trap. I would put some peanut butter and sunflower seeds in trap. They enter, it shuts. Then I would place the cage in a large container of water and that would be the end of the chipmunk. I have also had success with what is called the chipmunk pool of death. Get a 5 gallon bucket, fill it halfway with water. Cover surface of water completely with sunflower seeds. Use a piece of wood to make ramp going up to top of bucket. Place a smaller piece of wood flat across top of bucket. Place a couple of sunflower seeds on ground, then up ramp and then to the smaller piece of wood across top. They follow trail of seeds to top, look into the bucket and think that it is full of seeds and jump in and drown. Both methods highly effective. I did all of this because they were destroying a retaining wall in my rear yard with all the tunnels.

For the mice, good old fasioned mouse traps with peanut butter and sunflower seeds. They can't resist...........

When they began to destroy the retaining wall that cost me a lot of money I considered it a declaration of war and I no longer "Had A Hart" to keep them alive.

I bought a product on line a couple of years ago called "Liquid Fence" to keep my to puppies from digging up my irrigation system and making chew toys out of the parts.

It's all natural and stinks.

I just sprayed on the areas in question.

The good news is it worked on the dogs, they quit their nasty habit.

The better news is it works on, mice, Kangaroo Rats ( a desert type chipmunk ), rabbits and any other critters that like to get into engine compartments, vehicles, etc. and do nasty things with wiring, fabric and other things that tweek their fancy.

I just spray the stuff around the garage and side doors a couple of times a year and around the vehicles, and 5th wheel and in the engine compartments of the vehicles that sit outside and in the garage. So far, it's been two years since I started this routine and I haven't had a critter invasion.

Just enter "Liquid Fence" in your Browsers search box and it will come up.

Happy critter chasing.

I usually just put the hood up and I haven't had a problem yet....what I understood is that the mice get into the engine compartment to stay warm and eat stuff up, when the hood is up, it gets cold and is unprotected and they dont want no part of it
