I was at Walmart today and they now have their own CDMA cell phone plans. One is $30 per month and includes 1000 minutes and 1000 text messages + some limited web access, the other plan is $45 per month and includes unlimited talk minutes, text messages and web access.
Their is no contract for either plan, just buy one of their phones and you are good to go. Has anyone tried this plan? Is it possible to use their phone as a modem and link to a lap top? -- Chuck

Hi Chuck,
The phone can not be used to tether a laptop to the internet. (how sad).

We are on our 2nd month of using the service. Do not get it for the internet service, because it is slow and hard to use. For the phone service we have found it works fine. We went to Pennsylvania and had service most of the way. This weekend we are going to a small rural town in Georgia and it will be interesting to see if we have service there. We also found out that DW likes to text DD. We use the $30 plan and for the first month did not come close to using the minutes even without free nights and weekends.

Hi redwake,
If it is a 3G capable phone I'd do it in a flash.
