The Champion is a good generator, not a Yamaha...not a Honda! And it performs as promised, at a great price. What differentiates it from some other (if not all other!) Chinese made Genny's is the fact that Champion does 100 percent better as far as customer service and support. Best I've seen in a long time from a Distributor of a product that quite honestly is sold under several other brand names. But the Champion customer service is second to none. That makes all the difference in the world!

I have the Champion 3500 generator. It is an excellent unit that's been 100% reliable. But I wouldn't use it in a campground.

The Champion is a great ginny only a few db louder than a Honda but still within Nation Park service rating and I would not hesitate to use it in a campground. Their customer service is fantastic. If you will use it a lot and have a extra $2k to spend then get a Honda or Yamaha.

The reason I asked about how quiet it is, is that at a couple of these shows you are lined up nose to tail with other campers and no more than 15 feet away to the side from another line of campers.
Who sells the Duro-Power?
Thanks
I am not a Champion basher. I think they are great units for the price.
However unless these tractor shows are a loud Nascar type atmosphere I don't think a Champion is ideal to use in close quarters with other campers around.
The issue is not whether you can tolerate the noise but can those around you tolerate the noise. Quieter is much better in close situations.
As a neighbor in close quarters I want you to have the quietest genset available. I will display the same courtesy and also use a quiet unit.
Keep in mind if you are in a tight quarters where noise from your unit impacts others than your bargain unit is no bargain.

I have the Champion 3500. I have run it all night (8 pm to 6 am) and there was still gas in the tank. We probably would not run it in a CG...I use it primarily boondocking or camping on our farm. I have run it all night in the pickup bed with the TT hooked to the TV (my bed is in the front of the TT) and it did not affect my sleep. I agree about the great customer service and it's an excellent unit for the price. As stated, if you are using one a lot in CGs where noise is an issue get the Yamaha or Honda. If you camp off by yourself save about $1700 and get the Champion.

You can usually use generators, but you need a fairly quite model like Honda or Onan. Tractor Supply has a Champion 3500 Watt for 299.99. Is this a reliable and quiet generator or is a Honda or Onan better?
and right now if you buy one you get a $50 Gift certificate. I bought one at Tractor Supply several weeks ago but have not even had it out of the box !!
See how quiet it is...

I bought a Powermax 4400 on ebay a few yrs ago. It is rated 4400 surge, 3500 constant. This unit like the Champion uses the 6.5 hp Chinese Honda clone engine. So far so good. Never used it camping, only odd jobs and as a home backup but I may use it in the future in the right circumstances without anyone close by to charge batteries. It`s not quiet and not real loud either, sort of in between, but let`s face it who wants to hear an engine blaring away next to them while camping?

Funny you should ask! There is a guy across the street from me using this very generator. It's quieter then the old 1000 watt he was using and quieter then I thought it would be when running. But there is no doubt that a generator is running in the area. It would not be allowed in an RV park and remote camps that allow them you would certainly annoy your neighbors in short order. I can't help but think that you could build a pretty quiet box for it and do just fine. I have the Onan 2500 and there's nothing quiet about it!

Years ago I bought a comerical 2500 watt Honda for about half the price of the camp model.. It was a noisy little bugger.. And I gerry rigged a extra muffler that helped... I only used it when I needed the extra quiet tho. Worked for me at the time. Bigger/quieter muffler won't do much. Most of the noise is from the engine itself.
Sorry didn't know you heard my unit run.. It sure fooled me with the extra muffler..
