I bought new blinds to replace the cheesy plastic ones in my 94 Holiday Rambler Navigator. There is an oak valance that goes all the way around each window and the blinds are behind the valance. There are 4 L brackets that appear to be all that holds the valance attached to the wall. I removed the screws from the brackets but the cornices are still firmly attached at the top. There are no more screws visable. I don't know how to remove the old blinds without getting those valances down. Has anybody got the answer/

Tap the bottom of the valances with a rubber mallet.

Are the valances up against an overhead cabinet? If so, there is probably a screw into the cabinet. Otherwise do as Buck said.

They are up against an overhead cabinet but I can see no screws going into it. They could be screwed in above the blids but I cant see how to get the blinds out.

Your old blinds are attached to the underside of the valance with clips. Find someone with tiny hands to reach up and find the clips. Typically, the clips are spring activated and will need to be "unsnapped" to release the old blinds. As for attaching the new blinds, it will depend on how they are mounted. I got so tired of dealing with our valances, I finally ripped them all out. The windows look a lot better and let in a lot more light. Sometimes if you open a window and screen, lean back so your head is out the window a bit, then press the old shade forward so you can see the back side clear up to the top, you will find screws holding the shades to the top of the cabinet. The valences may not ever come off without some hard work. They may be screwed in from the top of the cabinet.
You can often remove the thin plywood liner on the inside of the cabinet and find screws there. It is tricky but with a very small bladed screwdriver and needle nose pliars you can pluck the small staples out with little damage. Once you get an edge up you can slide a larger flat bladed screwdriver next to each staple and gently pop them up.
In any case it can be a body twister to get the shades out as you have found.
