Does anyone here ever camp in Wisconsin? I have almost never seen a post about it. As a longtime resident I know many places to do the town or to drycamp in the forests.

I don't see why they wouldn't since it has many great places to visit like any of the other states in the union. Although I've only been there for business purposes I can see myself camping there sometime in the future.

We camp in Wisconsin fairly regularly. There are some spots that we go for ORVing, we have gone to Darlington, Wi for the campground right on the Tri County trails, then up north to Clam Lake area, Day Lake and Black Lake. We've also looked at the area by Phillips and Prentice for the trails there. There are a lot of nice state and national forest areas with varying degrees of amenities, and a good number of nice private campgrounds too.

We camp frequently in Wisconsin, and prefer WI SPs to our own. We've developed our own favorite spots since the early 1980s, when we first started camping in relative comfort (i.e. not a tent).

Well let's see here. I'm from Central Indiana and we've stayed at Devil's Lake State Park, Rocky Arbor State Park, and the KOA near the Wisconsin Dells. Also stayed at Willow River State Park on the West side of Wisconsin. Absolutely loved each park.

Thanks for the replies. I agree there is a lot to see and do here. I only asked because I have read many blogs and stories and have only come across one that had a stop in Wisconsin. We do have a very short season here, But it is a good one.

Went for 8 days including July 4. Had to try to find winter clothing it was so cold. Doubt if I will be back - don't go where long pants and/or jackets are needed.

We stayed at a campground in Northern Wisconsin by a city on an island that I cannot remember the name of. We had a very nice time and would go again once we have been everywhere else in the country.
