Just read through a post regarding unbalanced furnace output, we have a problem with our A/C output. The rear of the trailer gets freezing cold (that's where the A/C unit is located), but the front bedroom sweats to death. The outlets for it is in the roof and there is no way to turn them down. How do you remedy this problem?

I talked to the dealership and they said that everything is working as it was built to be.

Probably have a kink somewhere in the duct work. Pull each outlet and check between it and the ac. When you feel very little air, between that duct and the ac is where the kink is probably at. Also, you may want to close off that outlet near the ac temporairly with some duct tape and see if that fixes your problem. Also how big is your 5th wheel and what size ac does it have. Always the option of adding an addiitonal unit in the bedroom, but probably won't be able to run both at the same time if you have 30 amp service.

I added a 2nd unit in the bedroom and changed the 30 amp service to a 50 amp service. Much happier now except when it is time to pick up the 50 amp cord. Heavy.

my rig is 33 1/2' long. Has a 13,500 BTU Duo Therm A/C unit. I only have 30 amp service, so the 2nd A/C unit idea is squashed there.

Is it just because my A/C unit isn't big enough for the size of trailer we have?

Depending on where you are, that A/C should be adequate. Try checking the ductwork as described above. Some units don't even have ducts; they have openings in the rafters. In those trailers, sometimes insulation or stuff left behind in construction obstructs air flow, such as it is.

You can buy adjustable A/C vents to replace your current ones, that may be closed off. There are also little fans that can be inserted in residential ducts to boost flows to distant rooms. Maybe one of them could be adapted to help out. It would be less expensive and less grief than another a/c.

I have seen added a/c's wired separately from all else, and run off a 20 amp connection.

That is not necessarily true. I installed this 13,500 in the bedroom and ran the wire into an adjacent closet then into a GE electric breaker box then down to the basement then over to an external 20 amp male weatherproof plug. When we get to the campsite, I hook the 30 amp up as usual then run a 12 gauge 25' extension cord from my male plug to the 20 amp receptacle in the pedestal. If you cant do that then before the 2nd air, we used a small fan in the bedroom.

My Challenger came pre wired for a second AC. One trip in 90 degree weather we used a fan to try to circulate the trailer. Helped but wasn't the solution. Gave up and had the dealer install the second AC. Everything is fine now.

I had a vent in my half bath which is a tiny room and it would get so cold in there I finally took a piece of thick paper and cut it out the size of the vent, leaving just a little bit to flow out. This worked well however keep in mind you can't block off to much flow from the AC or you will start to freeze up the coils. As some said, you might have blockage. Mine ducts are a straight shot so I can pull alll the vents off, put a small flash light at one end and use a small mirror on the other to see thru the ducts. If you can do that you may be able to rule out blockage.

I also had problems getting the 13.5 to provide air to the front bedroom area. Mirror/light trick showed no blockage, however the problem was pretty evident when I pulled all the registers. The register is connected to the duct chase with a 2" collar. The holes cut into the chase to accept the collar were, at best, a hack job, leaving multiple gaps around the collar in turn allowing the air to vent into the ceiling chase. A can of Right Stuff expanding foam did the trick to seal the collars to the duct, as well as the ceiling chase adjacent to the collar. I also sealed off the duct after the first/last front/back register. Haven't had any hot days yet to try it out, but I can sure feel the difference in airflow!

I'll have to try these suggestions this weekend. By the time we get home at night now it's dark.

Thanks everyone and I'll post the results when I'm finished.
