No one has posted a $$$ amount. Except AZBrat ~ What can you get for a $20 bill.

Had friends used Debit/ATM cards - neither told the other what they spent -- whatta mess. Don't want one.

This is why DW has her account & I have my account. Left overs are then transferred to our account for major purchases.

Maddog thinks its funny and he thinks he is funny. I hope it happens to him some day so we can share his humor. It was not at a toll booth but the official welcome center. Two different situations that I know of because they are in our campground. How many others, I don't know. They were both Canadians.

sshhh, this is a secret don't tell anybody...

Years ago when I was working on the south side of Chicago a truck driver gave me a pointer. I carry an old wallet with a couple old, cancelled credit cards and a few dollars. My cash and valid card is in a clip in a different pocket. If they want the wallet I give it to them.

And the best part about this is they stick with the Canadians since they know they are not armed.

We moved!! No more nasty neighbors, no more rotten parking. I am saving this picture just to remind myself how bad it was.

I'm surprised that anyone in Georgia has even heard of Canada, let alone know that they wouldn't be armed !
The only way that a weapon would have helped is if any of the victims were carrying at the time and were faster on the draw than their attackers.
No wonder we try & get through the US as quickly as possible when we drive to Mexico!

We always use a credit card for the majority of our purchases. Much safer than a debit card since its not a direct link to your bank account like a debit card is. You don't have to worry about any fees or debit holds that may be placed on them either.

The other factor is our exchange rate to US dollars. In October 07 the Canadian dollar was trading at $1.07 US. It has dropped as low as $0.78 in March 09. We Canadians take a risk carrying cash, but also take a risk with the currency fluctuations. I'm buying US dollars now and placing it in a 2nd wallet(thank-you ljr), but will not touch it as long as our dollar stays high. We will use it, or trade it back into Canadian dollars when our Canadian dollar drops in value, as it surely will. We each have to weigh how much risk we want to take, and consider the alternatives.
