Well, we have great state parks. What specifically are you looking for as in location, facilities, etc?

Art,
First off let me thank you for your reply.
We are not real familiar with the Louisiana coast as far as camping. We would love to be able to camp in view of the gulf beach and water if possible but unsure if this is possible. 30amp and water are all I need. Full hook up and cable would be ok but not necessary.
If I can't hear the waves breaking on the beach I would opt for a nice spot on the edge of a nice lake.
WE have taken a tour of the Tabasco plant in New Iberia in the past but didn't have time to do all we wanted around Morgan City at that time. Thanks again, AL

Grand Isle looks like a good suggestion, but ....
From the state park website:
VISITOR ADVISORY: Beginning mid-September, the beach at Grand Isle State Park will be closed due to Corps of Engineers work on the breakwater area. The Army Corp of Engineers is currently pumping sand back onto the beach of Grand Isle State Park, part of the coast rebuilding efforts to correct damage caused by recent hurricanes. This project will involve the use of heavy equipment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until mid to late October. For the duration of this project there will be no beach access and there possibly will be noise throughout the day and night. Grand Isle State Park will remain open for use of the campground, the fishing pier and crabbing lagoon during this time; however, we do want our visitors to be advised of the possible impact on their visit. But please remember that not only will this project help protect Louisiana's coast line against future hurricanes, it will allow us to offer beach camping at Grand Isle State Park again. Thank you for your patience and support.
This work might be over by now, or at least by the time you arrive, but it wouldn't hurt to call the park and check.

The nearest place you can actually camp on the beach is Camping on the Gulf in Destin, Fl. For big $$$ you can have a site looking right at the Gulf.
Check out Fontainebleu and Fairview Riverside state parks in La and Percy Quinn state park in McComb, Ms. All 3 have sites near a lake or river.
Henderson Beach state park in Destin, Fl have sites just over the dunes from the Gulf. It's one of our favorites.
Miss, La, and Fl all have nice state park websites. If you find a park you especially like, I can probably tell you something about it. Just send PM.

Thanks folks! All things considered I think we have decided on Lake End Park.
Grand Isle is open and the work continues but the added distance was what helped put it off till a later date. The noise wouldn't bother us since we live next to a highway anyway.
