I cannot locate a definitive answer on towing my 2006 Nissan Maxima with a tow dolly. It is a front wheel drive car and I have been told that is and that it is not and wonderfed if anyone had personal experience with the 2006 Nissan Maxima. I was told that my 2002 Lincoln Town Car (rear wheel drive)can not be towed on dolly due to the rear wheel drive issue.

people do tow rear wheel drive vehicles on a tow dolly backwards. not saying it is a good idea however.

Virtually any front wheel drive vehicle can be towed on a dolly with the front wheels up. The question is whether or not you want to do it. A dolly puts weight on the receiver hitch, and thus additional weight on your rear axles and chassis. You need to look at the weights and specifications on your vehicle, the way you will use it, how heavily you will load it, and decided if it is right for you.
Does it have a manual or automatic transmission. With a manual transmission, it can be towed with all four wheels down. With an automatic, it cannot.

Check the Remco Application Charts. It show the Maxima dolly only for auto and 4 down for manual. The Town Car is 4 down with drive shaft coupling.

Yes you can tow a front whl drive car on a dolly, I've towed my Kia on a dolly for thousands of miles with no problems, other than you can't back up with it. (for any distance)

What brand and model dolly do you own? Every dolly has a tow rating.... check the weight limits of your specific dolly.
As far as the Maxima, it's front wheel drive... you should be ok.... just make sure it doesn't exceed the weight limit of the dolly or put you over the GCWR of your motorhome.

Isnt there a sticker on the back side window of all Maxima's that state:
"FWDSC" (front wheel drive sports car)

NOPE! I was wrong, the sticker is "4DSC" for FOUR DOOR SPORTS CAR.

My wife has a 2007 Nissan Maxima. I checked a lot of sources and got mixed answers about towing on a dolly. The mechanic at the dealership said it would be o.k. for short distances but - when the back wheels turn the whole axle turns. For this reason he said he would not tow one! For whatever that is worth!!

the mechanic gave the standard "emergency" towing procedure. less than 50 miles at 25 mPH. not recreational towing behind a motorhome.
