When our caravan group goes on a trip I tell everyone to plan on three pot lucks so be prepared with 1 desert, 1 salad and 1 main dish and then when we arrive have everyone sign up for what they will bring on which night. This way everyone contributes the same dishes and cost wise it is spread out.

I have yet to go to a pot luck of all deserts. Now that would be fun.

Here is another "tip". Don't try to bring enough to feed everybody there. Seems like we always have a ton of food left after a potluck.

We did an "all-dessert" potluck once...it was great!!! We met an hour or so after everyone had dinner and chowed down on goodies.

Grape jelly , chilly sauce , meat balls and a crock pot , people complained because they did not get any. I made it in the biggest crock pot there is and nothing was left.

At church, we package up the leftovers and take to shut ins, those who are sick that week, or send home with those who might need it.

Or a Raspberry/Chipotle sauce (on the BBQ sauce aisle in the market) on the meatballs is tasty.

Here is a fun one. Crockpot full of meatballs with sauce of your choice mixed in and served with pretzle sticks.Put the stickes in a pretty little container next to the crockpot. Sit a couple on a plate with the pretzles already in them so people know thats how to eat them. However do not do to many ahead as the pretzles get soggy.
