There are two ways you can find out.

1) They will send a letter to your home address (or whatever address you used) via commercial courier. Of course if you are already on the road you better have a system in place for mail forwarding. Normally there will be two letters, one within 10 days signifying receipt of your paperwork and another stating that the cancellation has been completed (anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks later).

2) You can go to the border and have them check on their computers to see if your cancellation has been processed.

Be advised that it may take as long as 8 weeks to get a TIP cancelled by mail. But from what I've heard from others that have done it, it's more like 3-5 weeks.

We plan on turning our 10 year permit in this year, when we return from Mexico. Don't want the hassle, if something happens to this coach or windshield, while not in Mexico.

Darned good idea, Texan!!!
The alternative if you sell or wreck your rig is being barred from Mexico.

Honk at any silver Dodge Ram & Crossterrain toyhauler on Baja. It's gotta be us - 'specially if it says Baja and Back #1.
