Todger wrote: A tow dolly is a royal pain in the A**. We have a tow dolly because our car can not be towed 4D. I'll give you a brief story. It's pouring down rain and you have to hookup to leave. Most sites you will have to pull the MH out to hookup the dolly. Then pull this several hundred pound dolly through slippery grass (if you were allowed to keep the dolly on site). Hook the TD up to the MH. Now you pull the car up onto the dolly. Apply the straps and cinch down. Just remember the car is dripping water while your strapping the car down. Now crawl under the front of the car and attach the safety chains. After about 20 minutes your ready to go but soaking wet. Or the day your leaving it is hot and humid again the same proceedure and when your finished your soaking wet with sweat. Now travel down the road a few miles and find a place to stop to make sure the straps are tight (This is stated in the owners manual and is very important). I've watched others hookup 4D and they are hooked and ready to go in a few minutes.
Both stories are from experience and I will be looking for another vehicle to tow 4D.
This is a great quote.. describes exactly my experience this spring in Nashville. I also had to dump the tanks and by the time I got back in the MH I was soaked to the bone. I had to strip naked and put on dry clothes even though I had a good rain coat on. You are not just standing in the rain you are bending, reaching, laying down on your back. We even had a pull thru site and didn't have to unhook the dolly while we were there.
That's why my dolly is now sold and we are shopping flat towable vehicles.

I towed Prius with dolly cause the only way I could take it. Now have a Smar Car on Blue Ox. So much easier. If you can 4 down and if you can't tow dolly is a bit of a hassle but tows just fine.

Personally, I like a trailer.
For lots of reasons.
However, YOU have to make YOURSELF happy.
the choice is yours.
Good luck.

Ah yes....
Why does it ALWAYS rain when ya need to unhitch yer toad??
We were recently looking at tow vehicles, and found the new model of Chevy Equinox to be pretty good as far as tow capability and such as long as one doesn't exceed the 65MPH tow speed limits according to the manual....
I guess one shouldn't be driving all that fast in a coach anyways, but sometimes it happens.
We too are currently towing a Smart Cabrio and it works pretty well MOST of the time, but sometimes we wish we had a toad with a back seat and some storage room.... but not when I'm out in the canyon going fishing early in the morning with the Smart humming along with the top down and slicing through them corners on the Apache Trail or wherever... But once in a while we wish we could haul a couple of friends along with us to dinner and such or carry something a bit larger than groceries. So far I haven't been compelled to swap cars and some of that has to do with how easily and well the Smart tows.
The car sure did stay cleaner when we had the garage-coach though....
A dolly can sometimes be a good thing, but in general if ya have a choice it's always easier to go four-down IMHO.
