Is it hitting a lot of people down there? We were hoping to get our shots before leaving home, but now they are reporting shortages in our area and who knows. We definitely want to get the shot - so please don't try to convince us it is not necessary. We have not heard of anyone who has had it. I think it is the younger ones who are most at risk from what I understand. We use hand sanitizer a lot and when available we use the sanitizers to clean the shopping cart handles. We are taking the same precautions we took before leaving Missouri. We have been shopping several days and to several stores in the short time we have been here. I have not observed anyone who appeared sick. I did hear someone coughing in one store and I avoided that area. The school in Missouri our Grandchildren attend has had many cases of it. Our 9 year old Grandson has it now. All of the children we know have done fine with it. Not much different than any seasonal flu. We got the regular flu shot we get every year. We chose to not get the H1N1 because of all of the controversy involved. I will also be interested in personal experiences in regards to H1N1 in the RGV. We will be going to Progresso tomorrow and will use a lot of hand sanitizer. H1N1 has killed what, a total of 2000 so far. Funny how a new and currently milder variety of flu scares us more than something that is 18,000 times worse. I would make sure I had the seasonal flu shot first, and get the H1N1 when and if they have enough. Did not see anyone wearing masks or anyone who appeared ill. I personally think it is blown out of proportion. Our Grandson still has it. The Dr said to keep a close watch on him and do not let him overdo as it can turn into pneumonia. I think you are no more in danger of getting it or any illness in the RGV as you are if you stayed home.
