Hmmm, along the same "vein", back when I was 15 years old we moved from a city in north central Montana where the high school student body was about 450 students. The high school in the city in Minnesota we moved to had a size of around 1500 students. The Sophomore class was about 475 students.

I was just visiting one of the Sea Islands off the Georgia coast and in the public restroom was a sign that if anything was wrong with the restroom to call the fire department.

You know you are in a small town when the Mayor introduces his wife and his sister and there is only one woman standing there.....

I live in a small little town in California of about 80,000 residents. By California standards, we live in the sticks and most people have never heard of it. But if my small town was located in many other states it would be as big as the State capital. We'd be the big city.

When you get in trouble for THINKING of doing something --- and you find out it's because the neighbors have called your mother and ratted on you. (trust me on this, I grew up in a small town)

I agree. I'd do something really dumb and by the time I got home my mother would already know about it. I couldn't get by with anything.

At 17 I was pulled over on the main street of town by the cruiser. The cop wanted to know if it was too late to call my dad, he wanted to buy a cord of wood and he knew my dad's schedule was one that meant he had to go to bed early. That's only half of it, though.
When I got home my mom was furious. The "old lady network" called her to tell her I'd been pulled over for screaming through the main street!
