Pete, the only campground I'm aware of is Los Mochis Copper Canyon RV Park. Full hookup's w/small patios. Older restrooms. Primarily used by caravans as a base for Copper Canyon railroad trips. Don't know of any motels/hotels, but I'm sure they're there to accommodate for Copper Canyon. Check into the RV park and inquire about decent motels, etc.
Exit at km 0, (#2540 Pemex on the east side just to the north). The exit is 1.4 miles north of Pemex #1737 and now closed Colinas RV Park.
You'll find yourself on Blvd A.L. Mateos. From interchange, head west and get into the laterals on the right as soon as you ca. The park in no longer accessible from the blvd. You will see the campground on your right in about 1 mile. Ph: 668-818-1613.
(Info copied from the Church's Bible!). Hope this helps.

Anyone traveling in Mexico by RV should have a copy of Mike & Terri Churches Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping, 4th Edition and be familiar with all updates and other info found on their website linked below. Also useful, though some info is somewhat dated, is Bill & Dot Bell’s “ontheroadin.com” website linked below. There are lots of other sources for info about Mexico online. Also, in this day and age we have GPS and would not go anywhere without it - our favorite for Mexico is Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS 2009 or now 2010 is available - essential in Mexico in our opinion - about $70 from Amazon.com - load it in your laptop for the very best detail maps of Mexico - though we know that all maps are a few years behind recent new roads being built.

As far as Los Mochis – there is Los Mochis Copper Canyon RV Park for which specific info can be found at the named sources. We stayed there a few years ago and out experience was that it is little more than a parking lot – which may be all you need. When we were there several caravans were using it to store rigs while they road the train up the canyon for a few days. It was wall to wall, bumper to bumper, door to door, window to window with no room for slides or awnings. We had tried to call but no one ever answered the phone. When we arrived there was no one in the office or anywhere to be found. They eventually showed up to collect. Of course this may not be the case at the time you may schedule to be there. If you can get them to answer the phone you might learn more. Someone else may have more current info as we haven’t been there for a few years.

Another option would be Mr. Moro Hotel & RV Resort, Las Glorias, Guasave, Sinoloa, which can be found in the mentioned sources. Explicit directions should be followed. We haven’t been there so can’t say. Another option is to visit El Fuerte but mostly people go there to catch the train through Copper Canyon. Don’t know if there is any motel.

If heading up on the railroad, you could also drive to El Fuerte and board the train there. What you would miss on the train is mostly flat agricultural land, and get to sleep in a bit longer. If driving from the north take a road to the left well before Los Mochis. Campground was nothing to write home about but kept the rigs safe for your time away. A nearby motel could also store your rig. Get a taxi to the train station.

We stayed in Los Mochis on the way back last year. Pretty quiet. Young fellow that was there gave us a ride to the bank and back. All the basics. A little trafic noise and a gallo (rooster) or 6. Works good for overnight.

Yes. Lots of roosters in the yard next door.
Go for Mr. Moro's instead. Worth the side trip. Good cooking, too!

many people have used the rest stop south of Los mochis with satisfaction. The campground in Los Mochia is referred to as the chicken coop. Mr. Moro is quite a distance off of the highway.

If I recall correctly. The copper canyon rv lot is owned by one of the nicer hotels in Los Mochis. We stayed at the rv park, booked our train ride at/thru the Hotel. The hotel picked us up at the rv park and drove us to El Furete at no additional charge; they also picked us up there and brought us back to the rv park when we returned a day or two later. Saved us about 6 hrs on the train at 8mph seeing nothing but fields and small villages. They also watched our dogs. We did not stay in El Furete because of the Black Fly infestation, we tried but, with in an hour of arriving we left (bitten and bleeding) and went to Los Mochis. Mr Moros is a nice placedon't know about the hotel) but along ride from Los Mochis. Alamos is a nice side trip.
