My wife and I just went from tent campers to RV owners. We just purchased an old 1978 Rancho El Rae travel trailer. It has a toilet in it that might be original. The toilet is a "Masterseal II" made by a company called Monogram Industries. If we are plugged in somewhere with water the toilet bowl fills up to the brim and starts draining from the over flow. If we aren't plugged in and leave the pump on it of course runs and the toilet fills up. I have never seen an RV toilet before but I am pretty handy and have figured out that there is a valve on the back of the toilet that controls the water and I am thinking there is an O-ring that has hardened and wore out or something. I have emailed a few RV places just looking for a new valve and no one has even heard of this model or manufacturer. Has anyone ever heard of it and know anything about them. I sure hate to replace the toilet for a 50 cent O-ring! Thank you to anyone who has any information. The model of the thing is "226".

Is this a Monomatic toilet? The kind that has a built in "tank" on the bottom? They are not the best if that's the case. Sometimes, they are called fecal fountains...the waste water flushes the bowl again and again with the waste it it. Also known as re-circulating toilets. (available new $500+)
The way these toilets work is to put a little water and blue in to start. Then, that is used to swish the bowl after each use. I'm wondering if the valve is to fill the tank a bit and then is supposed to be turned off? Monomatics aren't too bad if you only use for pee, but get nasty otherwise...
Please post more information if possible. VK

Ok, looks like that company is still around but they no longer make RV toilets. No one stocks parts for this either. I am going to replace the toilet anyway I guess. I am going over this weekend to clean the trailer and work on after last weekends trip so I will more than likely take the toilet out and tinker with it. I have to replace anyway so might as well tinker with that valve and if I screw it up no big deal. Thanks to those who responded the information has helped a lot.
