Lee,
There is another option.
It's the route I use all the time going south to visit the kids.
Stay on the 10 to 57.
Take 57 North, this will take you to the 210, and then head west on 210.
In Pasadena you will actually turn off to stay on the 210.
When you get to the 118, take it west.
Get off in Moorpark and take 118 to 126.
Then 126 to 101 and 101 north to Paso.
At the 46 East Exit, go west and then head north for SAL.
I can give you the detailed there if you need it also.
Any questions, drop me a PM.
Cliff

Take the 210 to I5 and stay on I5 to state route 46 over to Paso Robles. This route would save time due to less potential traffic delays. The 101 can have a lot of traffic delays depending on time of day and they can happen in many different areas from Burbank, Thousand oaks, Ventura and Santa Barbara. Once you are over the "Grapevine" pass on I5 it is flat with no hills to SR46. The 101 is a curvy up and down highway all the way to Paso Robles.
An alternate route to consider is the I215 north from San Bernardino. It merges with the I15 north. Take SR395 north to SR58, SR58 to SR99 north, then to SR46 to Paso Robles. This route avoids nearly all potential traffic problems of traveling thru the socal freeway system. It is only 18 miles longer than the 210/I5 route above but you will encounter a LOT Less traffic on your way to Paso Robles. Truckers not having stops in socal use this route to avoid the LA freeways & traffic.
All the routes & highways mentioned above are no problem for your 5th wheel as they are all used by big rig diesel trucks.
If you want scenery and views of the Pacific Ocean the 101 route is the one to take just plan for extra travel time.

Just because I could, I did a DeLorme check of 4 of the routes for distance and time. The results suprised me. I used the same start and stop points. Starting at the 210/134 interchange in Los Angeles and ending at the 46/101 intersection in Past Robles. So hereeeeee they are.
The 210/5/46 route: 208 miles in 4 hours 12 minutes.
The 210/134/101: 223 miles in 4 hours 34 minites.
The 210/118/101: 237 miles in 4 hours 56 minutes.
The 210/5/126: 242 miles in 4 hours 53 minutes.
The distances will remain the same, the variable is the time due to traffic. The 210/118/101 takes longer to go a shorter distance because the some of the 118 to 101 on the more direct route is a 4 lane surface street with stop lights. I did not check taking the freeway 118 to the 101 as that entailed a several mile back-track to the 101.

As already suggested the 210/5/46 to Paso Robles is the best route for fuel economy and time. I use to take it all the time when pulling a JCP load up the Salinas.
