My question is, if administering Comfortis what do you use for ticks? Do you use the two preventative treatments together?
I’m still trying to get a handle on Calvin’s itching. I used the flea comb, placing what the comb gathered on a wet paper towel. Which did not turn red, so I guess there isn’t any fleas.
Thanks,
Pops

I don't know about using the two together. I use Comfortis, haven't had to use anything for ticks.
What about food? A lot of itching is actually related to food allergies. Corn is a big offender and it is a very common additive.
Hope you can find the problem and get Calvin some relief.

I have been using Advantix Multi on my little guy, Cody, for over a year, covers ticks and fleas and have not had any problems.

I recently switched from Advantix to Comfortis for my two pekes due to a continuing flea problem. Comfortis really has worked much better Than Advantix. Haven't had much of a tick problem, so I don't know what I will do if that becomes a problem.

Pops,
One of the Eli Lilly researchers who helped to develop Comfortis is a friend of mine. I asked him about the ticks. He said they believe Comfortis has an effect on the ticks, but they have not done testing so therefore cannot market it as such.
So, I use the Comfortis and watch diligently for ticks, but we haven't had any. It did eradicate a flea problem and we haven't had any since.
I'm not saying you should do without as I do. I would check your pets for ticks and discuss it with your vet. We are only in tick prone areas a short part of the year

Thanks Dale, I’m making an appointment to see the Vet next week to have her look at Harlee’s leg. She has a growth and seems to be bothering her.
I’ll talk to her about Calvin at this time. Although I wish we were in AZ, so I could discuss Calvin’s problem with Harlee’s Vet in Buckeye.
It would be great if we could see Dr. Turmail, but I don’t think the Doc would make a house call here in So, Cal.. However, it wouldn’t matter if he did, because I couldn’t afford it...LOL
