We've found that any of the flea remedies, Advantage, Revolution, or Frontline, work equally well for us, as long as we keep our home free of the little pests, also.
Be careful setting off flea bombs, especially if you have gas heat, water heater, etc. I've heard horror stories about houses literally exploding when the flea bombs were set off.
Also, vacuum daily for a week or more (any cloth surface - furniture, carpets, etc.), throwing th bag away each time (if using a bagged vacuum) so that the flea eggs inside don't hatch and reinfest your house. I'm not sure what you can do if you have a bagless vacuum.

The other two cats have no fleas and neither do the two dogs, we went over everyone last night with a flea comb, no fleas or flea waste.
Thanks Dr. Doug, the vet gave Timmy Capstar, when he came home last night I went over him with the comb too, the fleas I found were all dead, he was still groggy from his abscess surgery so I kept running the comb through him and nothing on him.
Today will comb him again to check everyone and I'll run to the store and get the peppermint concoction and try.
I do vacumn the living room every other day, only room with carpet, rest is tile or hardwood, no fleas jumping on anyone.
Many years ago we had a flea problem so I know what I'm dealing with but I'm a little surprised, years like this don't normally produce a lot of fleas, I'm talking May, June, and most all of July we had rain and lots of it five out of seven days.
We'll get it takin care of...thank you all.

We've had a really bad summer with fleas here, lots of rain and no prolonged high temps. This seems to go in cycles related to weather, not so much a resistance to flea meds. Their (the flea medications) efficacy decreases with time from >99% day 1 down to <90% after a couple of weeks so if there are any fleas in the environment or reinfestation or eggs that hatch you get the kind of problems you have reported.

I'm a big fan of Revolution-never a flea, and it's also an effective prevention for heartworms.

sue.t wrote: How's the carpet and furniture in your house ... is there potential for flea infestation there?
Our flea problems ended when we moved into this house with no carpet and bought leather furniture. Cat and dogs continued to frequent the outdoors, cat loved to sleep in the woods on the moss, but that wasn't the source of the fleas we had previously ... the house was. I admit I was a bit lazy about vacuuming diligently ... Now that sounds very familiar. But all it takes is one flea to jump on the cat or dog, or even a human, and come inside. And if a human who has pets and fleas visits you... Then the flea lay eggs somewhere, and they will find a place. Then more fleas.
Edit: forgot, think we use to use Frontline, but don't remember for sure. Went to new Vet and he switched us to "Advantage Once-A-Month Flea Treatment for Cats and Kittens 8 Weeks and Older over 9 lbs". I really don't like putting the stuff on the cats, but if we didn't, would have all kinds of fleas. And the cats don't like the stuff either!! Once a month they know what we are getting out and go hide. Catch them and have to wrap them in a towel to be able to hold on to them so we can apply the stuff. And after the deed is done, they run and hide again. It is a two person job!
If it is that unpleasant for them, it must be pretty bad stuff! Can you imagine what a fight we would put up under the same circumstances. Guess it is just a evil necessity and if we want cats as pets, they will have to put up with it. Much rather have cats than fleas!
