I read that Coyotes are a natural enemy of the coon. You can purchase coyote urine from Cabellas. I haven't tried this myself. Good luck!

Some of the local schools around here have had a problem with geese in their playgrounds (goose poop all over where the kids play - just can't get the geese to use pooper scoopers). They got fiberglass statues of coyotes to place around the playgrounds and it scared the geese off. Only problem was it scared the parents, many calls to 911.

I can attest to the geese mess. We had a few hundred geese in our hay field one day last weekend. I was proud of the dogs for leaving them alone and not chasing them. The next day they were still there but had moved further up the field into the dogs "pooping field". The geese flew off when we entered the field so we did our normal walk around the field.

OMG OMG OMG - in 1 day those geese ate about as much as 40 horse and pooped just about as much. It was so thickly dotted you couldn't even walk around the bits.

Next time the dogs get to chase! (in the hay field anyway - the geese can have the area around the creek).

To make this raccon related - I think we might have one living in the back of the barn we don't use anymore. We've only caught glimpses and luckily my dogs are really chickens at heart.

We had a pet coon many years ago and a medium/large dog at the same time. They played together and it usually got pretty rough. The coon, even though 1/4 the size of the dog, usually came out on top!!! Very powerful animal, to be respected. Also not all coons carry rabies. In our home area, the state drops vaccine baits but there are still a few remote cases each year. Live trapping and relocation are the best alternative. Just my .02
