TWO CENTS WORTH
The story goes that a man died and was approached by the Devil who told him that he could buy his soul back for a dollar. The man searched his pockets and could only come up with 98 cent. While begging the Devil to forget the two cent he was short, an Angel happened by and hearing the Devil laughing, asked the man, "Would you mind if I put in my two cents ?" The Devil got so mad that he exploded in a puff of smoke and the man's soul was saved.
The moral: Sometimes putting in your two cents worth makes a difference.

Any place we've ever been, it's Free, if you camp there, most places only charge for Non-Campers.

Maybe they liked the site w/out the sewer hookup better than the one with it. Perhaps it had more privacy -- more shade or something. We stay @ COE and SP cgs and can go almost 10 days w/out dumping the black tanks..and we have a blue tote for the grey tank. If I could get a better site I might choose the non-sewer also -- especially when you are there for 5-6 months. Assuming you are not bothered with running to the dump station 2-3 times a month.

Flies, possible overflow problems, and/or odor would be my best guesses.

All you need is one incident with an overflowing subterranean sewer system that overflows in your site, and it might put you off camping within reach of the possibility.

Also, we've all seen the disgusting evidence of a previous user who didn't know how to use his/her dump system properly or clean up after him/herself. I can understand how someone might have encountered one of these messes and then been put off camping in a location where the ground and surroundings might be impregnated with it. Using it once to dump is a lot less off-putting than camping over it.

I've been in three parks recently that have had a serious fly and/or odor problem associated with their old, decrepit sewer systems. One park had the county water and sewer division out making them dig up pipes and replace them. A sump pump nearby would often breakdown and things would get stinky. Flies were always a problem. Across the road at the lake there weren't any flies to speak of, so I'm sure the little buggers were attracted to the park for the odor even when it wasn't evident to humans.

Who knows, some people might not be confident enough in their own dumping skills to want to do it in their own site -- better to spill at a dump station than in your own yard.

Then, of course, it could be miscommunication. Maybe the people just preferred the site that didn't happen to have the sewer over the one that did, and their priority was the view over convenience. Easy for someone relaying the story to get it mixed up.

My best guesses anyway.

I always get the non-sewer sites. Cheaper that way. Then when I get ready to pull out, usually about 5am, I just open the tank valve and let 'er flow as I'm scurrying out the front gate. I connect a two foot piece of sewer hose so I don't get "stuff" inside the storage compartment.

You have got to be joking. That's one of the most irresponsible and disgusting things I've ever heard, not to mention illegal. I hope to hell you're joking.

I know of people who have three kids and go camping in a TT. They have never used the washroom ever. They always use the CG facilities. Wow!

That's me!!! OHHH WAIT! That's the BOYS! They must use the wash house as for some reason our bathroom never works when they need to use it. Clean up time is so much easier when ours is "broken".

Even I know he was joking, he wouldn't live long if he really did that. everyone in the park would be chasing him. I know I would be

At my house, I have a sewer clean out in front that I use to dump when I need to. Very convenient to my RV pad, so when I get home from a trip I can just park it, then string the hose and let 'er rip.

Every time I pull the cover off of the clean out, a few dozen waterbugs or other creatures go scurrying into the nether reaches of the sewer pipe.

This convinced me that I don't ever want to leave my dump hose hooked up, so those bugs and their friends can wander up and take residence in my coach. At home the various P traps wll keep them out of the house, but if they move into my MH holding tanks, they can crawl up into the coach when the traps dry out from lack of use.

The hoses get hooked up to dump, and then put away.

That allows you to choose a more scenic camp site at MOST RV Parking lots and often that means getting out of the parking lot and down to the lake front.

That's what crossed my mind, too? If I had a choice of a "regular" space with sewer, or a scenic one without - I'd opt for scenic. Of course, we seldom stay more than a few days in any one place anyway, so we only hook up when we're ready to dump.

Why hook up until it is time to dump the black and grey tanks? Just so everyone can see yet another sewer hose?
