I can't seem to find 'Hunter' thermostats here in B.C.. Can I use a different brand?

Yes, almost any battery operated thermostat will work, i,e, Hunter, Lux, etc...

Does anyone know if I can get one to work with a heat only system? It is a suburban heater.

Les,
here are some updated pics of the newer version of the hunter thermometer

robbie69...what did you use to cut the plastic out for the slider switch to fit in the bottom part of thermostat? .... I have the same thermostat as you and more than likely the same type slider switch. I've thought bout using a zacto knife or something similar to cut a section out of the bottom piece.

actually had a friend at work(metal fab shop) do it for me. not too sure exactly how he did it but think the x-acto knife would do the trick. how i probably would have tried it.

I replaced my Coleman Mach thermostat with a LUX DMH110. I was not concerned with wire colors, just swapped wires to LUX by the letters on the thermostat.

Robbie69... I put it in yesterday...I used a utility knife (my sheetrock knife) and heated the blade on the stove and it sliced through it like butter...drilled the 2 holes for the screws to hold it & the slide switch fit perfectly and got the thermostat installed and both A/C & furnace work just like there suppose to. thanks for your input.

now the funny part-think the only time i ever used the low speed was to see if it worked. Always have it set to high but i'm one of those, if it's there i want it-even if i never use it

Hey fellow RVr's I have been looking through the forums here for my situation, but either I missed it or can't find it. Here is my particular setup. Hopefully, you knowledgeable people can assist me.

I have a Coleman Mach A/C with the Heat Strip supplemental heat unit in the Bedroom up front.

On the (A/C & Heat)control box in the ceiling roof top unit the terminals are marked:
W GL GH Y B- and two(2) Freeze terminals which are for the thermistor.
As I understand W is for heat (gas? only?), GL is for low fan, GH is for High Fan, Y is for Compressor in cooling mode, B- this also throws me too, the B- sign (- Minus)is this still 12V? This is what I have found on net thus far:
Wiring Terminal Rooftop unit
On page three(3) installation instructions it has W as electric heat. I understood this W to be an output for Gas Furnace?

My Hunter Thermostat

I have a Hunter, Model 44360 which uses the AA batteries to work the thermostat. This is the detail manual link for the thermostat I had in my shop laying around:
Hunter 44360 Install
Page 10 & 16 is the thermostat pictures of Wiring lugs layout.

The Heat Strip in the A/C unit is what is confusing for me. Do I attach the W or not to anything I assume it is only for the GAS furnace not the Electric heat strip. Is there any need to hook anything to this terminal, The gas furnace is controlled by the main rooftop A/C unit Thermostat. As can be seen in the hunter document there is a W/B terminal on the thermostat but I cannot believe the Furnace & B- go under the same terminal.

Any detailed instructions to properly hook this up will be
G R E A T L Y appreciated.

Thanks
Paul
