(Al And Reeni's Space-Shuttle Launch And Party)

Kevin, Mario, Carlos, Steve, and others from the AARP weekend - We talked about doing a shuttle launch trip and seeing on the news that another one goes up in 2 weeks, made me realize that we need to settle on a date. We can't do the June 13th, as we have plans for that weekend, and then getting ready for Daytona.

According to the NASA website there are 2 more launches scheduled for the rest of this year:

STS-128 - Discovery - Thursday, August 6: It will be HOT. Kids are out of school, but I know summers get busy for everyone. Ours has filled up fast!

STS-129 - Atlantis - Thursday, November 12 - Cooler temps, which is nice if you want to tour Kennedy Space Center, but kids will be back in school.

Since there is often a scrub, we usually get a site for a week starting on the day before the scheduled launch. Could come in on Wed or Thur, depending on time of day. (For example - the June 13 launch is set for 7:17 AM)

There are 5 more scheduled for 2010, so I'm sure we'll go again next year, as well.

Feb 4
Mar 18
May 14
July 29
Sept 16

Let me know what ya'll think. For the August date we should definately be making reservations now.

Thanks,
Al

Hi Guys.
We are definitely interested. Nov would be better for us but Aug is possible. Aug. is tough for me due to hurricane issues. Please keep us in the loop. I leave the cover off the RV.

I'm thinking Nov, as well. After working outdoors today, cooler is better.

Thats one thing I would haul the rig all the way there to see!!
Dear Ole Dad worked for NASA (Not with the shuttle) and when they were landing out here at Edwards AFB, we were always too busy to make it out there for the landing, BIG mistake!!

November would be better for us too. We're going to visit Mickey the last week of July so by the first of August we might be broke!!Let us know what campground you're looking at. We stayed at Patrick AFB last time we went and saw a rocket launch. Mario, they make covers for RV's??? WHY??? mine never sits still...

We are not a TH, but a TC, but are definitely looking at the August 6 launch.

We have medical conflicts for the June 13 launch.

Suggestions for a campground please.

We're definately looking at the November launch, as it will be much cooler. As evidenced by this week's scrub of Endevour, anything can happen right up to the last minute. I'll be watching the KSC website to see if this delay affects subsequent flights.
