Well like everyone else we got the phone message..

Ironically, I haven't received a phone call yet. Granted, I'm overseas until mid-November, but my phone is forwarded to a device that will send me the message bye-mail and nothing has come in except a call from my Mom. LOL

Guess that means I'm exempt

Geez...maybe they think you DO NOT drink! LOL!

Looks like I may have to cancel this one. The leave roster for new years is out and I'm not on it. Still too early to tell for sure, so I'm not ditching the reservation yet.

Well Chris, maybe they didn't see your leave chit or conveniently misplaced it!

I didn't want to bring up the subject, but I'm still holding out because of my broken arm. I don't get out of the sling & swathe until approx. 6 December and then I'll have therapy. Steph won't be with me, so I was going solo on this one. Didn't need the beds open if it's just me. . . but I would need both arms. . . so I'm hoping therapy works a miracle on this left arm! Keep y'all posted.

I'm sure you'll have plenty of help setting up, Cindy. You can just sit back with a pain-killer and bark instructions.

Cheers!

The Crane's are heading out for the weekend to clean out the RV and it looks like it's going to be a nice one!!! Taking the RV back to the dealership on Monday to get the rest of the things fixed and winterized. I don't want to see it again until everything on the list is done!! We'll see.....

First of all. . . have fun and enjoy the end of season camp out!! Secondly, if they don't fix everything before you camp in the Spring, I'd be havin' Eric show up in full uniform and armed. Sometimes a full uniformed peace officer gets everyone's attention!!!

My wife received a call from a guy from DNR and he asked if we have a camper. My wife indicated yes and he reminded her of the alcohol policy and that any alcohol needed to be consumed inside of the camper. We will be camping November 6-8, 2009 at Elk Neck.

Just wondering, how did they enforce the new alcohol policy last weekend ??

Every year a group of us(from work)get together for a Thanksgiving gathering, the first weekend of November. We had 5 sites. We congregated at one site and had no problems with DNR or park rangers, Friday night or Saturday. One of my co-workers was reminded at the contact station of the no-alcohol policy but the rest of us did not have the same experience. We drank our contra-ban from mugs or coffee cups. My feeling is that as long as the gatherings are civil and no obvious alcohol consumption(beer cans, bottles, etc in plain view)that DNR or park rangers will not engage the campers. Enjoy and drink responsibly.

Not to suggest that as a LEO I 'know' what DNR thinks but I still agree that it is more about policy being enacted AND being able to be ENFORCED if NECESSARY. Now DNR can not only tell you that alcohol and your campsite ain't working out but here is a citation AND please hit the road. That would encourage me to be a good Do Bee if I was someone who thought it was not a big deal.
