NC Hauler wrote: Alrighty then, 3 post in a roll seems a bit vain to keep this old thread going, guess theres just not much to talk about..The weather forecast was dead on for today. It's a beautiful sunny day here and the temp right now is 72 degrees. Going to head outside and do a little yardwork, still have a pile of leaves that haven't dropped or changed colors yet..go figure...Hope all of you are feeling well and having a great day....take care.
Winter here, snow in the valley, yuck, but did not stay long on the ground. Hopefully my last winter in the snow, as I mentioned earlier retiring next July will head south for the winter of 2011. 63 cold winters are enough for me for awhile. Hopefully will go fulltiming for whatever time, and we will see from there. Talk at you later

Another day, another 98 cents.
Youngest son got a nice buck muley yesterday, brought it out to hang in the shop overnight, just picked it up to take the the processor. We are lazy, we don't cut up our own. My Dad did that, and I got to help. That made up my mind that while I enjoy the hunting, and I enjoy the eating, I can allow somebody else to have the fun of the cutting and wrapping. It is worth the 40 bucks or so to NOT have to deal with it!
I suppose I should dust off the rifle one of these years and go see if I can still hit anything. Hunter access is getting a little easier these days. Many landowners are seeing what the deer and antelope can do to haystacks, and realizing the need to cut the numbers some, and the best way to cut the numbers of animals is to allow hunting. Oh, sure, there are still way too many idiots and slobs running around, but those folks only get a chance to mess up once on private land, and they don't get allowed back.
The problem for me is that if I shot something very far from the rig, I would have to put up a tent, build a fire, and sit right there and eat it. I could never drag a 100 pound deer for any distance these days!
Maybe I could convince the doctor to certify me for a handicapped permit for hunting...

A gorgeous day here on the mini-farm. The sky is clear, the sun is bright, and I woke up breathing and above ground.
It is terrible to realize, but it looks like I will have to start using decaf coffee. As an experiment, I bought a small can to try, and my problems pretty much went away. then I ran out, and made regular coffee for a couple days.
Now, the tiredness and dizziness is back. Yep, looks like decaf for this ol' dude from now on. I don't like it when I wake up and it looks like the window is oozing down the wall, and I have to VERRRRYYY carefully navigate from the bed to the bathroom due to being unstable on my feet!

Jon, hope your ok there buddy. Decaf may be the way I'll have to go before too long..Don't drink a lot of coffee during the week day's as it is...maybe a cup or two through the night while at work...but may be something I'll have to look into.
Beautiful day here yesterday...got up to 64 degrees. I fired up the riding lawnmower and mowed/mulched the front and back yard..got rid of all the leaves in the front yard..kind of hard to get rid of them in the back with the oak trees...most of the leaves are still on the trees...I'll end up using the leaf blower, rake and bags like I've had to do since 97'...(love the smell of the leaves when they're dry).
Suppose to be nice here for the rest of the week..sunny, highs in the low 60's, lows in the low to upper 30's..hey, it is Nov. Hope all of you are well and hope you have a great day...Believe I'll wash the 5er again this afternoon if it's as warm as they say it'll be (64). Take care, catch ya later.

Hey mower, I always say, any day you wake up, you just KNOW its going to be a great day. Beautiful here again today. I love to watch the earth get ready for its little snooze. I dont waste my leaves either. I rake them into a pile and then I play in them with the kids. Nothing beats jumping into a pile of leaves with a joyful little face watching and learning to love the outdoors.

The problem with new construction in Nebraska- no trees to give us leaves. All the trees are still small, since this neighborhood was a cornfield just a few years ago. I miss jumping in leaves.
Near-freezing at night this week, highs in the 40-50's. Perfect Fall weather. Now if I could just find where the kids hid their Halloween candy.

We have to be careful about jumping into the piled up leaves. The willow tree sheds sticks and limbs so bad it is hard to keep them out of the pile, and they HURT when you jump on them!
This week is supposed to be really great for fall weather! Upper 50's, lower 60's for the highs, upper 30's for the lows.
Went wild yesterday, went to Sears and bought a 16 inch bar, 2.3 cubic inch engine chainsaw. WOW, will that thing zip through wood! I got to thinking about all the saws I have owned, and I think this is the first brand spanking new one I have ever had! all the others, from the little almost toy things, up to the Stihl 041AV with the 24 inch bar, I got used.
Then I got to thinking, what else have I never bought new? House (we looked at a new one, but it only had half an acre, and the CCRs were ridiculous), RV, pickup, boat... I don't think any of those will happen.

No willows near our jumping spot. And the neat thing is, you jump and jump and break those leaves into almost nothing, then youhave to keep raking a few more in so you have something to jump on. The kids love it, and they love playing with gramma and poppa. Poppa loves the playing, but will forgo the raking. congrats on that new chain saw mower. New tools are always fun. Lovely day here again today, my gosh, this makes like 4 in a row for us. Hope it holds thru the weekend!

Rather nippy this AM. Frost all over. About 20 degrees.
But, it is going to be a beautiful day, should get up to about 60 or so.
I may go whack up some scrap lumber for firewood in the shop. I hope I can avoid the nails, it wouldn't be a good thing to have to go buy a new chain before using a tank of gas!
