RE: Winne View Shower plumbing leak

Get to it FAST. I also have a friend with one of these, but I've forgotten how we removed all the obstructions. He's had several leaks - the flooring and bases of walls in those hidden areas did not tolerate water well. There WILL have substantial damage, if it isn't fixed quickly.

RE: Bank Repo Class A

I AGREE that demand for better used DP's is very high in New England. Dealers stopped ordering new stock as the economy worsened. Last Fall there were probably 30 NEW pushers in inventory over ALL of New England - hence, NO TRADES. High demand and little supply - that means the dealer will hold out for a high price. Also, the new DP models are difficult to get- so YOUR DEALER is trapped with little new supply.
I can tell you whats in even tighter supply - BUYERS WHO CAN PAY! Tell your salesman that you're one of the very few who can make a deal happen!
Frankly, I'd make an offer and walk away.

RE: Ebay Dealer Behaviour

I looked at one dealer's listings where all the floors were wood, and many other indicators of previous damage had been replaced. I felt it was to cover damage. OTOH, most of his coaches were "old" and wouldn't sell for much. If you have the experience to check for "covered damage" and know how to follow your nose for mildew, etc. - then you might get a good deal on something clean. Don't PAY for work like his, because it doesn't increase the value much - it just makes it easier to sell.

Ticks have spread, and they'll continue to. If you don't have them in your area - you probably will.

RE: Pace Arrow vibration

"Plugging" was the factory recommended fix when these models were first introduced. Dealers were advised - that's how I learned of it. To date, I haven't seen a grill rot-out.
When I bought my used 1994 PA, I took out the grill to repaint it. I couldn't believe the work-intensive way the grill was built and welded. The replacement cost through Fleetwood was $700., and I could believe it! The newer grill about which the poster writes is similary well made - possibly Fleetwood's finest work!

RE: can't stand the rattles

Get someone to go for a ride with you. Have them seek out each sound and apply pressure around the noise - in every direction - until the noise stops. Small shims, a bit of silicone, padding - any way you can alter the area to stop the noise - and you'll get each noise eventually.

RE: Pace Arrow vibration

Actually, the problem IS the grill. The tubes were made with open ends which create the whistle. Plug the ends with silicone sealant, flush - and the noise should end.

RE: Cleaning Aluminum Wheels??

My wheels were also abused. I found the rear wheels, with more horizontal surface, had pitted the most. Areas around the lug nuts are crusty and very difficult to clean. The Mother's Mini Ball did the best work. If you use it too hard, it won't last - but it takes far more abuse than you'd think. There's no other way to improve pitting and discoloration that to buff it out, and that means using more abrasive polish. Mother's aluminum polish in the small can is far more abrasive than the liquid polish, and I just kept on rubbing by hand. Then, I'd use the Mother's PowerMetal polish with the MiniPowerBall. I don't like the final look, so I follow with Zephyr 40 which seems like the best liquid polish for wheels that aren't badly damaged. Don't knock yourself out - dig a little deeper into the damaged areas each time you polish - and you'll eventually have results you'll like.

RE: Help with 06 Tiffin Phaeton?

The TV holder has a curve base which is attached to the "box" of the cabinet. These two parts were moving slightly - in part, due to the weight of the original CRT TV. I pulled the TV and glued and shimmed the curved base where it hits the upper part of the cabinet. I replaced the TV with a modern thin model - a savings of around 60 pounds. No more squeeks.

RE: My trip to Fla

If your Fleetwood has an Intellitec electrical box under the hood, a replacement circuit board may be available with a B.I.R.D. built in - both chassis and house batteries will be charged on shorepower and while driving. It's a plug-and-play replacement - about $150.00.

RE: Brooksville, FL, anyone there??

There are inexpensive parks in Brooksville and surrounding towns. I felt Brooksville seemed a bit confined to itself. Yes, there are stores and a downtown area, a hospital and most services people expect - but I felt a need for more than those basics. It's an OK place, but after three Winters in the area, I wanted more.

Front windows are "asking for it"!
I like the new look! It still looks like a LD, but less like an old mobile home. LD will probably probably still give you the old "slab" paint job.

RE: Verizon Wireless Internet Service

I run two computers all day , and exceeded the 172 MB average only once. Better yet - areas in which I've been unable to use my cellphone have been able to support the MIFI. I couldn't be more pleased. Pictures and YOUTUBE are the biggest dangers, and doing those things requires you monitor your usage carefully.
Areas with weak signals DO slow performance, but there is no increase in usage due to the weaker signal.

RE: Do dealers not check their email???

I had the same problem in car shopping last Summer. Strangely, the same dealerships that didn't respond are still hounding me since I notified them that I already purchased a car.
When will the dinosaurs wake up to this tool?
Of the ones who did respond, they were only interested in getting a phone number to badger me into coming "right down" for them to do a GOOD JOB (on) for me.

RE: E-Bay Prices seem to be up for older MH's.

People with "some cash" who might have bought better units with financing are being forced to buy older units for cash. People who would have been trading in older units are finding dealers don't want to carry old units - and they won't pay for them - and many of those owners are being pushed out of the market by lack of financing.
Remember - those units on Ebay RARELY sell! Check the seller's feedbacks after the sale to look for comments from the Buyer (and the validity of THOSE Feedbacks is questionable).

RE: 36 vs 40 Phaeton

Another factor - there are several new 36's on dealer's lots - and the used ones seem to sit unsold for a while. For the price difference, the 40 looks like a better investment - OTOH, you may find a great deal. I'm not sure you can get the kingsize bed in a 36, and there may be more differences to consider. In any case, you'll be happy.
