RE: Structural Failure - 2008 Adventurer 106 Truck Camper

Sorry for your problems- I know it is very frustrating to purchase something- have problems with the product and recieve no service. Poor service is better than no - service, at least with poor service you may have the oppourtunity to work with the dealer/ manufacture. Even though you have worked the warranty process- at the end of the day the result is the same as no service - you still have a defective product. I'm blessed that our camper manufacture stands along side their customers. If we had the same issues you have experienced, I firmly believe Hallmark would replace the camper with a new unit. Hopefully you will find resolution- without a legal battle. Good Luck

RE: UHMW plastic

A heat gun will work- it is a slow and deliberate process- Are you sure you want your camper to slide on this stuff?? You could have unwantwed movement in the bed of your truck while you are underway- what slides easy going into the bed of the truck- will also slide comming out of the truck -:H Perhaps I missed the intent of using UHMW as a centering guide?? To me this sounds as if you want to slide your camper across or against this? Personally I would not slide my camper against or on top of anything.

RE: Truck Camper Map

........4) There are more TC owners in Connecticut than Wyoming...... That sounds about right- there are more people in three to four cites in Connecticut than the entire state of Wyoming :W Connecticut has about 5,000 sq miles of land and Wyoming has over 98,000 sq miles of land So where do they put all those campers in CT???? :h

RE: Offroad/Ruggedized/4-Season TC

...Not actually, "they" do fit fine in the bed of a Dodge Power Wagon ... it's just that I don't recommend that pairing as the Power Wagon's stance is too high for COG/stability considerations, the factory springs are off-road tuned and are too flexy for adequate load carrying capacity, and the normally aspirated 5.7L HEMI gasser is inadequate for a camper application IMO. Yep that greater mass thingy- will get you every time in a jacked up truck- wont it :B In terms of reciprocating for my kind words in the form of a gesture of goodwill ... I can hardly contain my anticipation of just what that might entail coming from the "other Brad". :E Why did you have to wake up the (other Brad) :B Peace

RE: Offroad/Ruggedized/4-Season TC

..... Is so, then yes, the Apex is "heavier" than a Caribou (or, similar genre pop-up) of the same length. Yes we all know this- The Apex is a heavy camper ... (as I had illustrated in an earlier diagram I had done comparing hard-side and Apex TCs, and mass and inertial mass)... I seem to recall this drawing- anyone can draw lines on paper and make the object- look smaller than it really is- :B

So, did I adequately cover the bases trails? :B Don- I knew you would FINALLY come to your sense's :B Great ... I was earnestly hoping that I didn't leave anything out! And to provide proper attribution, it's entirely due to all of that valuable and repetitious brainwashing, err, I mean training, that you have so magnanimously provided to all of us over the years here on RV.net. ;) Don- You did forget one thing- they dont fit on Dodge Power Wagon - Right?? I'm so humbled by your kind words - perhaps someday I can repay the gesture of goodwill.

RE: Offroad/Ruggedized/4-Season TC

Be sure the measure the height of the side profile- height = greater mass Yeah, trails is right Ace. You really have to watch that as well as a number of other key attributes as Outfitters are well known for being super massive to the point of being grossly heavy, having a weak aluminum framing structure, and they are just way too tall ... to the point that they are constantly running into obstructions, tearing their roofs off, tipping over in the slightest breeze, completely falling apart off-road, and are just plain unstable due to a poor COG, crappy workmanship, bad materials, poor customer service and a plethora of other deficiencies (as the majority of their owners will attest to). So, by all means, be very careful in your ultimate choice in purchasing a pop-up camper. So, did I adequately cover the bases trails? :B Don- I knew you would FINALLY come to your sense's :B

RE: Offroad/Ruggedized/4-Season TC

Four season use in snow country with a fabric-sided pop-up?... Modern pop-up sidewalls are contstructed with very high quality materials- (to be read not a canvas fabric) that are insulated and very comfortable in sub freezing temperatures. Their “insulation” packs consist of additional pieces of fabric held in place with Velcro right? That or other methods may interest some but not for me! Wrong again- the softwall has insulation that is integrated in to the constuction of the side wall. There may be some pop-ups as you describe but they are not all made that way and at least one is made as I described so lets not paint the subject with such a wide brush. :W I wasnt holding the brush ;) I was holding the paint can :)

Funny you should mention that, I was just looking at it. Hallmark's site is kinda hard to navigate, sort of isn't intuitive and the links for the specs doesn't work for me, but the campers look nice. RE: Hallmark- Sierra Hardside

Hallmark made fullsize hardside campers years ago. I guess they were the traditional wood frame back then instead of composite. I got a good tour of their production facilities back in about 1995 when we were trying to figure out what camper to buy. Halmark made a really nice hardside; if we had live in Colorado, we probably would have bought one. They have the "Aspen Camper" logo on their website, which I believe was manufactured after the War-Hawk camper. Perhaps this is the re- birth of the Aspen Camper line by Hallmark???

RE: Hallmark- Sierra Hardside

Trails, You seem to have an inside track with Hallmark. Any word on when we'll see the "Everest" stablemate to the "K2?" I'm hunting for a half-ton haulable, self-contained pop-up and it looks like that would work for me. The "K2" is hauled on Matt Ward's Chevy 1500 and I don't think the "Everest" was supposed to be very much heavier. Bill Hi Bill I stumbled across this today on their website- Honest! I think they have some information on the Everest on the same link. Hallmark - Everest "Second to debut will be our 8’ foot 6“ inch Everest pop-up truck camper. Again, this camper was on our orginial docket, but we are adding a cassette toilet, an inside shower, and a 6’ foot 2“ inch dinette. The Everest is sure to be a hit with our short bed owners. This unit is requiring mold changes and has taken longer than expected, look for my debut late 2010 to early 2011" The Everest sounds like a real nice unit - Good Luck

Hallmark- Sierra Hardside

Hallmark offers three new models to their lineup of campers- including the all new composite hardside- Sierra. Hallmark Launches Composite Hardside " hallmark is building our FIRST composite hard side 9’ foot 6” inch dry bath Sierra truck camper. This is our first hard side since we picked up Okanagan in 2001. We look forward to building a high quality hard side truck camper. The Sierra will be followed by the 8.5’ foot Tahoe and the 10.5’ foot Whitney. We will incorperate our seamless one piece roof technology, molded composite wall technology, and a dry bath in each unit. Look for our new hard sides early 2011" How cool is that :B This is gonna be good!!! Great Job - Hallmark- another first!!!!!!!!

RE: True North Freelance

....trailer would make a good space holder in a CG, while you took your TC where you need to go.... I understand some state park campgrounds including Wyoming- will only allow -one- camping unit per site. All trailers must go to a desiganted trailer storage area- So this may not work- unless you move the mother in law suite around a bit :B
