RE: How fast do you tow?

We leave this Thursday morning for Bristol Tennessee and I will set the cruise control for 60-65 (max) and take it nice and easy. enjoy the race! I wish I could go.

RE: How fast do you tow?

I usually run between 60-65. I'm sure I could get better mileage going slower but I just find myself going stir crazy at 55 watching every yugo on the road blow by. I never use cruise because I find it wants to shift constantly when in hilly areas. Mine usually runs at 2500-3000 rpm in 3rd gear & I have 3.42 gearing. When we were towing through nc, sc, ga & fl on I-95 I left it 4th gear & ran at about 1700 -2000 rpms @ 62mph.

RE: Roo 19 vs Roo 21ss

Go with the 21SS if you can swing it. I have a 2010 Roo 19 & wish I could tow the 21SS. The space difference is worth every penny.

RE: How Many Miles in 2-Weeks?

Our last 2 week trip was 3000 miles round trip with our trailer. We stopped 2 nights on our way to Disney, stayed 10 nights & then drove home. I love driving so spending 16 hours a day driving works great for me. I think you should definetly go to DC it's a wonderful place.

RE: Wheel Chocks

Wow $59.99 each that is a rip off. RVDirect sells them for $36.49 each. I hope no one was suckered into buying them at the show. Holy, good deal, thanks for posting that. Happy to help

RE: Wheel Chocks

Why not make your own??? Then you could tailor them to your dimensions... click on the link in my signature and modify from there :W Les My new TT has wide axles and the distance between the tires at the closest point is 16". Do you think there would be any potential issues if I made my own chocks big enough to fit that space? Sounds like they would be awfully cumbersome having to cover that large a spread.

RE: Loud campers late at night

I haven't had any bad experiences since I've been camping with the wife & kids. I do however remember when I was probably 12 (late 80's) having some very loud drunk tenters next me & my parents. My dad was very mad after a day of the yelling & swearing & them carrying on late into the night. So after they went to bed he went over & put a small travel lock he had on the zippers. I'll never forget how funny it was seeing these two guys try & get out of their tent. They went home that afternoon since they had to make a rather large hole to get out. Just a zip tie would have done it. I have lots of those.... gotta try that some time :) I'm guessing we didn't have them in our camper back then but would work just the same.

RE: New RV Television Show coming

If I remember correctly they have done this before. The one I saw only focused on the ultra luxury units with about 15 minutes on units people actually buy. Still fun to watch though.

RE: Thinking about a Disney trip.

Fort Wilderness is a fantastic place & we loved staying there in November. Having our own trailer was really great & we loved the trip. The place is like any other Disney property, it is perfect. One thing to know is that the place is HUGE, about a mile front to back. They do not allow driving your TV around unless you are coming & going so you would have three choices; a golf cart, buses, or walk. I walked it twice & cursed myself each time. Is it worth it? Well that depends how much you like having your own bed to sleep in. We have been talking about going back to Disney at the end of this year ourselves & have the same dilemma as you. We are also in MA & it took us about $900 in gas round trip which really would have been nice to keep in my pocket. We stopped two times on the way down (VA & GA) & three times coming home (FL, VA, & NY). The way home sucked because we spent 3.5 days driving home in a tropical storm. When are you planning on going? How old are your kids? Last year they were giving away the dining plan if you stayed at any of the resorts. If we had stayed at the value resorts & took the free dining instead of camping at FW. We would have saved at least $2000 on that trip. You may want to wait until April because that is when they seem to announce the new deals for the year.

RE: Does Anyone pull their Hybrid TT with a inline 6 SUV?

I tow a Roo 19 with my 2005 trailblazer LT. It tows very well & I have not had any problems. We have towed in the mountains in PA & in high winds without any issues. You will want to add a tranny cooler w/ temp gauge which are both fairly easy to install. I use the Equa-I-zer WDH & the prodigy p3 brake controller which both work well. A few weeks ago I sent my PCM to be tuned by http://pcmforless.com & the power difference is amazing. They are highly recommended on trailvoy.com. It take 5 minutes to remove the PCM to send it out & only takes a couple days to get back. The tune is worth every penny.

RE: No Shower Surround?

There are many manufactures that offer the surround as an option. If you want a surround why not see if you can buy it from your dealer. If it's not available from a catalog I would think they could order it from Starcraft.

RE: Rockwood Roo 19L- opinions?

The pigtails are the hoses that connect the propane tanks to the regulator. We had a whistling coming from the tanks. First thing we tried was changing the regulator but that didn't work. Then we tried new pigtails with the original regulator & it has been fine since.

RE: Rockwood Roo 19L- opinions?

We have a 2010 Roo 19. We have had a few warranty issues but nothing major. So far we have replaced the pigtails, remounted the three drawers next to the sink, replaced a cabinet door that split at the seam, replaced the gfi outlet that died, had dealer replaced the control board on the furnace, & next up is replacing the radio which is messed up. Funny that's the first time I list everything together. Well we love our Roo but thinking about all the issues makes me a bit apprehensive to recommend it, never thought i'd say that. Well good luck with your decision.

RE: Hybrids and Minivans

The trailerlife.com site is wrong. The Mazda MPV had the 4WD rated to 4200LBS and the 2WD rated to 4500LBS up until 1998. In 2000 & 2001 they brought out the redesigned MPV (FWD only) which was rated for 3000lbs & had a 4.38 ratio. In 2002 they changed the axle ratio to 3.49 and dropped the rating to 2000lbs & 3000lbs with the tow package. Now I've read more about minivans than I ever wanted to & have learned minivans offer a lot more than I thought.

RE: Hybrids and Minivans

The 2K you mention is for the base van. If he has the tow package the 4WD is rated to 4200LBS and the 2WD is rated to 4500LBS. Where did you find those ratings? I only ask because all the info I found says 2003-2006 Mazda MPV's have a base rating of 2000lbs & 3000lbs with the tow package. I'm not one to say you can't tow with a minivan because obviously a lot of people do it without an issue. Just curious as to where you found those ratings.
