RE: Organizing those bedroom wardrobes

We have one of those on each side of the bed we use for hanging clothes. Also have cabinets above that go between. Bought plastic file folder baskets from Walmart and put fold up items in these. The cabinets are tall enough I put a small shelf in for the baskets which left a 4-5 inch space for socks and under ware. Shoes go in lower cabinets on the sides of the bed.

RE: Best Garage Sale Visit Ever.

Well I didn't have very high hopes for Sunday. You see yesterday my Home Frig caught on Fire and so I had to make an unplanned trip to Lowes today for a replacement. On a side note I'm glad it happened this weekend rather than next week when we're on Vacation in FL.
Anyway on the way back my wife saw a garage sale and wanted to stop. I reluctantly agreed and we pulled over. She went to browse and came back to say they had some camping and RV stuff so I went up to check it out.
Well to my surprise they had a Hensley Arrow for sale. Even though I had just bought a "Huskey CenterLine" I thought I'd inquire about it. I ended up walking out of there with Strap on Towing Mirrors, hitch helper, Hensley wheel X-chocks, Wireless backup Cam, the Arrow, and a cover for a grand total of $250!
I figure the amount of money I saved probably payed for the Frig.
Now I have to decide if I make the FL trip with the Arrow or my CenterLine?
Pretty nice if thats my biggest problem I guess.
That's just wrong! Congrats!

BAL X-chocks vs BAL Deluxe chocks

Does anybody know the difference between the two? RVDirect has the X for $36.48 and the Deluxe for $54.39. I thought the X-chock was supposed to be the new and improved version. If so why is it so much cheaper? Anybody have any used ones they would like to get rid of? If so PM me.

RE: Sudden acceleration issue with new 2011 F350 Diesel!

I went to my Ford dealer today, the owner had promised to let me know when he got his 2011 F-350 6.7, and it came in Friday night...just for him! A Lariat. Nice!
I own currently 2 F250's with the 6.0 engines, and love the feel of the power on those trucks, so with 90,000 miles on each truck, so I'm not a stranger to the modern diesel's performance! And I've driven when on duty some super-charged Crown Victoria Interceptors and just a month ago I was able to finagle a 2010 Ford Mustang GT 500 from him for a weekend drive to Vegas. And those will peel your eyeballs and make you involuntarily grin!
But I was really not prepared for what happened next. I took him for a ride tonight (test drive! ;) ), got on the I5 freeway south around 10:30pm in Anaheim, and stomped on it! Talk about sudden acceleration! OMG! I don't know what the zero to 60 times are on this truck..but again OMG! :E
I was going so fast that I was passing Camry's! :p
If I towed my poor little Jayco 5er behind this thing, the term that we all hear so often and erroneously applied to towing..."you can't even feel it behind you" would actually be the truth! Mostly because the trailers wheels would not be touching the ground! ;)
My first impression was "quiet"...that thing only barely sounded like a diesel...and the 2 turbo's were actually subdued in sound. (Darn it! I like the turbo's spooling up sound!) The 6 speed auto was seamless and flawless and superb. I got off the freeway at the Disneyland exit, and drove it back to the dealers lot...I actually patted her on the side when I left her sitting there...and she hadn't even raised a sweat...
According to Autos.com the 0-60 time for a 2010 F350 Diesel is 7.2 sec., a Chevy Silverado Diesel is 6.2 sec, and a Dodge Ram 3500 diesel is 7.2 sec. As I said, this 2011 Ford is QUICK...certainly mid to low 6 sec range? I've also driven the DuraMax and Cummins powered trucks, both supurb engines.

And from a prior post made regarding the fuel mileage being in the 30 mpg range, all I can say again is wow!
http://www.cool-smileys.com/images/49.gif
I just have got to talk to the DW later and convince her that a new truck is in our immediate future! I't not my fault...I'm in love!

You made my day! :W :C

RE: Storage Lot Cost

I store mine outside. 24hr access, owner lives on site, gravel parking lot, $35 a month or $350 yearly. Need a key card for access.

RE: Anyone Using an Expedition to Tow 27' Or More Trailer?

Previous TV and TT were a 2001 Expy with a 3.31 rear and a 25' TT about 5500lbs loaded. Had no problems towing and ran 60-65 mph. Like has been previously stated properly equipped you should have no problems. Good luck, John
P.S. the Expy had the 5.4 engine. Also sold the Expy to my Dad and he pulls a 25 ft TT (about 6,000lbs with all the junk he carries!) with I believe about 225,000 miles on the truck. Just keeps going and going and going!

Look like a OK deal to me. Always offer less than asking price. Might go to Excursion-forum to ask about that Oasis report. The link is for Ford-trucks.com Excursion specific forum. Good luck, John

Maybe I missed it but what about a 1-ton van? Wouldn't that cover the OP's needs? Especially for the 3rd seat.

RE: 2010 F-250 Diesel - Horrible CR Review....

I own an 08, so virtually the same truck as the 2010.
I have 2 major complaints.
One is fuel mileage. I believe CR is fairly accurate in their assessment of the mpg's in this case
My other complaint is that the truck pulls to the left, very very badly. My dealer says everything is within specs and won't do anything. This is frustrating because it isn't enjoyable to drive.
Other then these 2 complaints, I love the truck. If both of these issues could be remedied I would love this tuck. But right now it is a love/hate thing.
Have you tried a different dealer?

RE: Pulling TT cross country

Shadows4, my son is a diesel mechanic so he keeps all his vehicles in good running order. As I said, I went with him the day he picked it up and I could tell that this trailer is heavier than what the Expedition could safely pull. I've been towing camping/travel trailers for a lot of years so I have some knowledge on what a vehicle can or cannot pull. And as forrest Gump says: "That's all I'm going to say about that!"
Sorry if I ruffled your feathers Rubber Ducky.LOL One would tend to think a 99 would have alot of miles on it hence the tranny being worn already. Also from your post don't really know how far your son towed the TT to home. Again my apologies to you, John.

RE: Pulling TT cross country

If the trailer is a light-weight you might be OK. My son has a 1999 Expedition and he bought a 2008 Sunnybrook Sunset Creek 298BH trailer. This is too heavy a trailer for his Expedition. I went with him the day he picked it up from the dealer. After he got the trailer home he had to have the transmission rebuilt and this after towing an EMPTY trailer. The brochure says this trailer has a "DRY WEIGHT" of 6615 pounds. Don't ever go by "dry weight" because the trailer will actually weigh a lot more than that. My son has been looking at 3/4 ton Chevys to pull his trailer.
I am sure the tranny was on it way out before he pulled the trailer. To the OP need some more info on your Expedition, Motor size, rear axle ratio, weight ratings, etc. The more info you can provide the better response and help you will receive here. Good luck, John

RE: Battery Light Comes On and Off

That rebuild price is about half of what the local auto parts store here wants for a rebuild. Belt tensioner is the hard part of the job. LOL The whole thing shouldn't take more than 30-45 min to do. Good luck, John

RE: 5.4L F150 3.73 vs. 3.55

High Cover worse comes to worse and order one. We'll build you one like you want! Have you had the dealer do a search for one like you want? If there are any like you want out there the dealer will be able to find them easier than you can. Also the 3.55 gears are the most popular gear ratio's. Check your PM's. John

RE: Battery Light Comes On and Off

Your alternator is going out. I had the same thing happen to me. I went to the junkyard and got one from a wrecked truck with only 18,000 miles on it for $50. You might look into that. Good luck, John
P.S. Ford used the same alternator in many of their gas trucks. You should be able to use an alternator from a F150 or F250, V10 or V8.
Went to a salvage yard the other day and they had an alternator from a 2000 V10 Excursion. I noticed that the bolt pattern didn't match up with mine. It also had an 8 groove pulley vs my 6 groove pulley. I had thought it would've been the same part, but I guess not. Mine has a top bracket to hold it onto the cylinder head.
Does anyone know which model years has the same alternator as the 02 for the V10 (Ex, F250, F350)?
jyh818, did some checking and your right they changed the alternators in 2002 for the Ex. I did some more looking around and 2003 and up Expeditions, and 2004 and up F150's should work. The ones I had done were a 1998 and 2001 Expedition and my 2000 Excursion. Anyway you might have to change the pulley from your old alternator if they aren't the same but should work other wise. It looks like the only real difference is they added the bracket to the top of the alternator. If the plug is the same the older alternator would probably work, just need to change the pulley. Good luck, John
P.S. Just curious how much were they asking for the alternator at the junk yard?

I just wasted my time and came up with an explanation as plausible as anything else!
So if its such a waste of time, why did you come back to the same thread the next day a waste your time a second time? Some people just like to complain. What a waste of my time! LOL :R
