RE: Georgetown 378XL Black/Gray water Tanks

I know some members on the Forest River forum with Georgetown 378s that have the bathroom sinks plumbed into the black. Not all Forest Rivers do, my 350 Georgetown is not

RE: ready brake system

I installed the toad brake light indicator they give you on my dash in the motorhome. This way you can see if your toad brakes are on. They do not come on down any grade unless I hit the brakes in the motorhome. The spring they use is well calibrated. This is towing a 4200lb Ford Edge.

RE: Itasca State Park, MN?

You won’t have a problem fitting into a site with your motorhome, however, I’d recommend staying in the Pine Ridge campground. The sites here are a little more open and longer. The sites in Bear Paw campground have many more trees, are shorter in general and it’s a much hillier campground.
As for things to do in the area – there is plenty to do in the park. Make sure to visit both of the museums. There is one at the headwaters and another down by the Douglas lodge. You can eat at the Douglas lodge, take a riverboat cruise on the lake, bike the wilderness trail (it’s 17 miles long in total). You can also drive the wilderness trail, go swimming, rent a boat or canoe and of course, walk across the start of the Mississippi. Around the 4th of July they usually have some evening entertainment or speaker.
We love this park and visit every year. Do make your reservations early as the sites fill up quickly.
I think you might have this mixed up. Bear Paw is very open, closer to the lake. There are some heavily wooded sections in Pine Ridge.

RE: Keurig coffee maker may be ultimate RV system

The Bosch Tassimo (kraft) is a similar single serve concept except you can also make Latte, Cappuccino, and hot chocolate. We love ours.

RE: RVing and IBA members

My IBA #13250 and my DW is #15145
Before we had a baby 2008 and bought the motorhome last year we had a few different bikes and did a number of IBA certified rides and rallies.
A few of the notable IBA rides we did.
2006 Buttlite IIII 7 day Rally 7300miles
Pines to Palms in 2 days (Angle Inlet, MN to Key West FL)
Border to Border 36hrs (Canada to Mexico)
2 Bun Burner Golds (1500miles 24hrs)
Bun Burner 3000 (3000 miles 48hrs)
Lake Superior Loop 24hrs
Many 24hr Rallies and 1000mile days including 6 Minnesota 1000's
A great way to see the country when you don't have much vacation time!
We are now returning to those areas we liked best to camp and spend some time enjoying the areas. We really like the Big horns in Wyoming, Black Hills in SD and generally most places out west. CO, MT, ID and all of CA north of San Fran and west of I5. Smokies out east are nice but a little busy for my taste, ie The Dragon.
I started with a 2002 GL1800 Goldwing and put 110,000 miles on it, traded to a BMW R1200RT in 2006. My wife had a 1999 BMW R1100RT and had 120,000 miles on it by the time she got a 2007 R1200RT. The touring bikes are sold now and we only have a couple of dual sport Suzuki DR650s so we can get back into it when the boy grows up.

RE: Sheridan Lake campground in S. Dakota

We spent 5 days there last summer. Sheridan Lake is very nice if you don't mind dry camping. Not very busy, good scenery, and a nice central location. You have lake access from any site around the outside and it's decent fishing.

RE: Question for Ready Brake owners

Most of those cover brake requirements, not necessary break away requirements. Using a Readybrute he will obviously have brakes but breakaway is optional. Even though it might be a good idea, some states have statutes on this and some don't.
Michigan does not, yet Minnesota does on vehicles/trailers over 6000lbs, Montana is 3000lbs.
Nightshift auto has a reference chart here http://www.readybrake.com/state_laws.html
Make sure to check the actual state though since they change

RE: Opinions wanted / Diesel Pushers

I've looked at all of these as well.
The fleetwood 40G chassis capacities make me wonder what sort of CCC the Journey has. I also like the 3 doors into the bathroom on the 40G. The bounder is probably a better comparison.

RE: Big Horns Campgrounds

The Big Horns are one of my favorite places to visit.
When we were there in late August last year and every NFS campground had open spots. I typically make reservations to secure the site I want. Your can make reservations at Reserve America
If you take the easier route Hwy 16 over the Big Horns I recommend Middle Fork or South Fork. Both on streams but sites are limited for larger rigs.
If you take 14 I recommend Prune Creek, Tie Flume or Dead Swede. Prune Creek is right along 14 on a stream while Tie Flume and Dead Swede are back a ways. Dead Swede was completely rebuilt last summer and might be the nicest campground there now. Be warned, there is heavy construction on 14 on the east side that will continue well into next year. And you'll probably want to take 14 down the west side and avoid 14A.
Here is an older thread dealing with Hwy 16 NFS campgrounds.
I have pictures of most Big Horn campsites that I liked here
Picture out our door at South Fork

RE: 2010 Ford Edge as Toad?

I have a 2009 AWD limited and it tows great and is easy to prepare for towing. It's a little heavy pulling with a gasser but it's very comfortable and my daily driver. I wouldn't choose anything else.

RE: Young Class A owners?

My wife and I are 39. We love to travel and see new places. During our previous 7 years we visited 44 states on Motorcycles. We decided to have a baby a couple of years ago so we needed something new since babies are not motorcycle friendly :)
We bought a popup last spring and used it almost every weekend visiting state parks for hiking and fishing. Decided it was our thing but the popup took too long to setup and tear down and we worried about our 1 year old making too much noise for tenters.
We bought a Class A with bunks in July, Put 8000 miles on it the rest of the season. We're usually one of the bigger coaches in the parks and we get a few looks when my boy is watching his Mickey Mouse on the plasma. Can't wait for spring!

As noted, just turn it all the way back while in neutral and you'll have no problems. The manual could have been worded better.

RE: South Dakota Trip for 2010

1) Yes
2) If you don't mind dry camping, Sheridan Lake NFS Campground just north of Hill City is beautiful.
3) We toured most sites and like the Island the best. A site on the outside has a nice view like 239
4) nothing

RE: 2010 Ford Edge

It is a bit heavy and I do feel it behind my gas coach but I absolutely love mine and the vista roof! My awd limited weighed in at 4200lbs at the weigh station.
Procedure couldn't get much easier. I just let it warm up for a few minutes while hooking up, put it in neutral, turn the key all the way back, and you're ready to go.
